De-tango - which bulbs are best?

Featured Replies

Looking to get some bulbs orderd to de-tango swmbo's vRS, and saw the following advertised on autobulbsdirect.co.uk;

581 PY21W

The person I spoke to there couldn't tell me wether they would fit a 2005 vRS......

Does anyone know if they fit straight in, or does one of the offset lugs need filing down?

Also, can the rear bulbs be de-tangoed, or does the effect not work on the rear? Only ask as I've not seen anything on any of the search results that came back, and speaking with a local vRS owner, he suggested it was for the front only.

all I know is I bought some chrome ones from Halfords and now my indicators look blue when unlit :(

Thanks

That's what I thought, but I guess as swmbo's car is black so that probably wouldn't matter too much I guess?

Philips Silver vision front and back.

£13.45 a pair from autobulbsdirect.

Do you happen to know if I need to remove one of the 'lugs' on the side?

Now that's really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons; silver or blue?

For a black car, I'd think either would be aesthetically sound, but.....

The diadems are a lot dearer IIRC.

Fitted on mine.

They are around £10 for a pair

I guess the silver is almost invisible, the blue more of a slight tone towards the black paint.

Aesthetically there seems nothing in it then...

Go to your local motor factors. They are cheaper or equal to and you won't have to wait for delivery.

I think I got mine for £5 pair from Macsen Lamps(?) in Manchester.

3 years ago I bought Philips silver ones and they are still going strong. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/155697-youve-been-de-tangod/

Be aware that cheap ones from fleBay may not be seen in bright sunlight. The Philips and Osram bulbs are 'E' marked so fully road legal.

Cheap eBay ones, mine have lasted two years now.
