Got a couple of really tiny issues which I think at least ONE would have arisen with your system.

Basically the pipe that connected the exit from the turbo, that WOULD have gone to your SMIC.... Was that chopped or altered in any way to get it to join up with the end of the Allard pipework? I've a little issue to overcome in that the SMIC pipe from the turbo to the Allard metalwork is about 8" longer, and to maintain the 90 degree angle from the FMIC, this pipe needs chopping and rejoining. The pipe I'm referring to is made up of some form of reducer fitting about 1" long, which clips into a long piece of plastic pipe about a foot long, with a very light bend toward the end, with the usual clippy type ring fitting on the end which the rubber is designed to go over and the clip hold the rubber against that lip.

Removing that "very light bend" in my 8" of pipework chopping will leave a plain ended bit of plastic pipe and I'm very worried about it blowing... Any tips on how Allard got around this would be cool, and from a general perspective - whats a good substance to use to secure the Allard rubber hose to this plain ended bit of pipe, as well as the jubilee clip itself? :confused: I'm thinking of some form of adhesive? Maybe PUflex stuff or even superglue?!

Got Friday and Monday off work now to concentrate on re-wiring and getting the little 5hite running this weekend sometime! :thumbup:

When I went to the Janspeed factory they were making turbo pipes for Smarts. To keep the hoses on they rolled a small ridge into the end of the pipe. Perhaps a pipe shop would have that sort of machine?

Well, its possible I guess for my mate to perhaps make a ridge into the pipework by running it lightly against the axe sharpening tool / machine thing in the workshop. I don't really want to ground away the original pipework though - Would prefer to glue it or something.

What sort of pressures does the turbo exit pipes have to cope with? Would it be enough to blow a poorly made join? I remember being in Jon's car when this same hose popped off (i think) twice. :D BANG! "no boost, bugger!"

Edit: what I really want the answer to, is did Allard cut & shut John's SMIC pipework to get it to fit. If the answer is YES, I just want to know how. :cool:

What they did was put it on a proper forming roller which 'stretched' a bulged ridge out of the existing pipe, almost like the look of an olive on a copper pipe. Not cutting lumps out of it!!! :eek:

Nice link Col! But I don't know the dimensions of the reducer I need - Its got to take the airflow pipe down to inlet pipe, so I suspect that might be a 60mm down to 55mm. The reducer on the PD130 turbo though is HUGE as it has to take that 60mm airflow pipe down to about 40mm. :eek:

Well get a ruler or other measuring implement and find out :)

Pics are not good enough clarity really... I just wondered if you were there when they did this bit of modding? :D
