fuelly

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just logged into fuelly, but I cant get it work out my first MPG, below is the info, could anyone guide me as to how the hell to get this in properly as its says my mpg is 185 mpg.

I dont know any figures other than;

Filled up 18th Oct - 40.27 ltr @ 74991 miles

Fill up 30th Oct - 12ltr @ 75480 miles (part fill)

Cheers,

Kyle

I think you need at least TWO fill ups for it to calculate this, as it needs 2 points for reference.

Give it time.  :)

You will need to do a complete fill, it can't work out mpg from a partial fill

I've done partial fills and get an MPG figure

Im just confused as i would be able to calculate the mpg using just the miles travelled and litres used, so figured this would be able to calculate it for me.

As the first mileage reading is point 1, second is point two (giving 488 miles travelled) and with fuel used being 40 ltr. the second fill up (12ltr) in my mind doesnt come into play yet as I haven gone anywhere?

You need a couple of fill ups entered (full tanks) before it will show any info.

Think about it for a minute, if you have a full tank, drive 400 odd miles then put 12l in, how can it work out the mpg for those 400 miles as you haven't filled the tank, so it doesn't know how much fuel was used?

On your next full tank it calculates the mpg from the total mileage since your last full tank and the total amount of fuel added since your last full tank.

When I add a fuel up, I have two further options at the bottom:

'I missed a fuel up'

and

'This is a partial fuel up'

I didn't think it was affected by the need for a full tank, just the miles and how many litres of fuel (and ppl of course).

If you tick the 'partial fillup' box it doesn't actually return an average mpg for that previous part tank but stores the info until the next full tank.

I'm not sure how the 'I missed a tank' works though.

And it CAN'T calculate mpg from either of those, as it doesn't know how much fuel you have used as you haven't brimmed the tank.

It is all explained on fuellys web site. Firmly calculates mpg by how much fuel you have used since your last full tank. If you don't fill the tank, it doesn't know how much fuel you have used.
