Featured Replies

hi ppl i'm new to skoda but ive had nothing but trouble since ive had it ive changed the precat lambda sensor and temp sensor bot now the eml light came on last week and saying lean bank 1 i know there a threads on here but im getting really stressed out im only getting about 15 mpg at the moment its had a remapp by the previous owner ive tried looking for a split pipe but i think im stresing to much to think properly is there a smoke test i can buy and how do i do it there is a hissing noise coming from the front of the engine does that mean anything please help many thanks to all who replys

Im sure I've had that same error on mine at first I thought it was my forge dv but on investigation found that the hard plastic pipes that run from the throttle housing thing up the engine bay (between engine and air filter) then along bulkhead to brake/steering motor had cracks where joined to the round plastic valves. I would suggest having engine running and just run your hand along the hard plastic pipe to see if its leaking air. Just stay calm and listen and feel for air leaks, it can be a annoying job.

Also check pipes around the dipstick area, they all degrade over time, at the moment im running 3 split pipes just bodged together till I've got the funds to buy decent replacements :S

Lean mixture means too much air, or too little fuel.

Check for air leaks around inlet manifold, split air pipes, split breather pipes, faulty diverter valve, etc. Could also be blocked exhaust. Have you got a boost gauge? Is it running the same boost?

Also to add, could be lack of fuel, so blocked fuel filter, faulty pressure regulator, faulty injectors, etc. Would need to measure the fuel pressure ideally.

Find someone who can use VCDS. Fault codes aren't good enough to trust, you need someone to look at the live data

Struggled to read that ^^^

Anyway, have a look here http://www.creationsmotorsport.com/product-detail.php?pid=7 This is the most common pipe to split. Have a look at the exploded diagram on that page.

As for the dipstick tube, it will effect the breather system and running of the car by letting un-metered air in. If it's broken at the bottom, make sure no oil is escaping.
