Flashing Glowplug Light

Featured Replies

Driving to work this morning, and my glowplug light started flashing about once every second.

When I got to work, as soon as I stopped and put it in reverse, it went off.

I've scanned with my Torque app and it said that no fault codes were found.

Having had a search on here, it suggests the brake pedal switch. With it going off of it's own accord, I assume it's more intermittent rather than just completely broken.

Before I give it a go with some switch cleaner, is there anything else it could be?

Brake light switch but do check bulbs too

Dont bother with cleaner. If not the bulbs fit the modified switch.

Check whether or not the brake lights work. If they don't, buy a new switch from a dealer. If they do, the fault is not the brake switch.

Am I right in thinking there are actually 2 switches?

One for the ECU and the other for the actual lights, or did I just make that up.

You can have a faulty brake light switch that will cause the coil light to flash but the lights will still work.

Yes, but they are combined into one switch, hence having four pins.

If its a pedal switch be careful not to break it when you fit it

The new ones are a lot easier to fit and dont break anywhere near as easy.

I did not know that. Neither do I know why the cursor will not let me type under the quote!
