Adding extra music to the HDD plus how good is this car!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I haven't been active of late, but after having a 55 1.9TDi Superb 1 Elegance I have now just taken delivery of an Elegance Greenline II via an 09 E320 CDi Sport which wasn't all that really. As an aside, how good is this car?!? The fuel consumption is frightening, how can they deliver such technology on such a big car? Plus it's quite nice to be in a manual car again, first one I have had since an 02 Seat Toledo V5, especially as I live on the Isle of Wight and don't sit in traffic much, the extra fuel economy is well worth it. I lease my cars and as this was registered in June (13 plate) I got it for £1000 deposit and £229 a month on just a 2 year lease! Fiesta money.

Anyhoo, to the meat of the matter. I have uploaded a load of music to the columbus system HDD all into one file and it seems fine (although it seems to have copied 2 copies of each track, one of which for each doesn't work?). I just like having a load of different tracks and hitting shuffle so having them in one file is fine for me.

Question is, can I ADD music to this file or will it have to go into a new file? If I can, how do I do it?

Plus I have the umbrella in this one, my other one never had it and I never got around to getting the dealer to replace. Silly things like that make me happy!

Hi and welcome , hope you enjoy your car. Had mine 18 mths and still love it. Even though I have a hdd on the columbus i just use sd cards it keeps the files as I want them and you can use it in mix mode as well, then when the wife of kids are in the car we can just change cards if needed.

You should be able to add fed or folders of music to the HDD in the HU.

Do the ones that don't play start with an '_'? And did you use a Mac to copy the files to SD card to copy to the HU?

I have all my music on the HDD & a 16gb SD card with the kids stuff on. Makes it easy to switch between the two when the kids jump in.

Yes, I did use a Mac (iTunes to convert to MP3)? What's that all about then and is there an easy way to get rid of them all?

Thanks btw

I had a similar issue with my old Mac (a 2009 MacBook Pro) but have had none with my new iMac (2013).

Somewhere on here there is a thread with details of how to set up your SD card & Mac so it doesn't have the issue I had. Unfortunately it didn't work for me and I can't find the thread at the moment.
