Interior lighting on air vents

Featured Replies

Finally got my 2.0tdi Elegance estate delivered on Wednesday after a five month wait. Having already done about 600 miles I can say it was well worth the wait, its much more fun to drive than I was expecting having read a lot of reviews.

There is just one tiny thing that is bugging me with the car at the moment, hopefully someone here will be able to help. Is there interior lighting built into the air vent on/off switches?

At night the rest of the interior is lit up like a Christmas tree, but everything around the vents is pitch black, it looks slightly odd to me, maybe because I'm used to the lighting in my other cars. I thought maybe I had missed a setting in the menu system somewhere, but try as I might I've not managed to find it. It seems an odd omission if it is not there, I thought that kind of thing would be standard on most cars these days.

Yeah I thought the same. I just don't think it does.

It's odd as the dials look like they should be lit but it may be part of the interior illumination pack we're not allowed in the UK.

It should look something like this here. No lighting around air vents...

They look like exactly the same dials as in my A4, which is lit, I think thats why I assumed they would be lit too. I've seen pics of the vents lit up in the Superb, but not seen anything for the Octy. It just looks a bit wierd with so much lighting in the centre console and darkness across the front of the dashboard! Sure I'll soon get used to it though.

@Dalelfc89, mine looks pretty much like the picture in the thread, but the vents aren't in that picture anyway.

It looks just like that! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

Thanks for the help.

My bad, I misread the question, thought u meant the controls.

One thing I do like is the lighting for the interior door handles

I haven't noticed this, where is the lighting - tucked into/underneath the chrome handle?

There's a small white LED in the trim above the top front corner of the handle.

Had another look but in mine but don't have this.

There is a very small boxed outline in the plastic above the handle where it should go - but no LED/light in mine.

Maybe vRS gets this but not on Elegance?

Same old VAG.... Same components across different brands but done ever so slightly differently.

MkIV Golf had 'normal' vents (i.e non lit), Bora (same everything) back lit.

Audi = back lit, new Superb will probably be back lit, Octavia = no.

Gotta differentiate somewhere I suppose.
