Not sure if I introduced myself so this might not be new...

Featured Replies

Hi all

I joined the forum a long time ago but I've not been very active. I've just posted about a problem with my boot and thought I better make sure I introduce myself as well.

I'm from Exmouth in Devon (England). I've owned my Octavia from new (back in February 2006) and I love it. It's had a few problems mind you, like the airbag light on the dashboard that cost a small fortune for Skoda to put right because they had to remove the drivers seat, which I thought was a manufacturing fault, not mine since I've never dabbled with the electrics. But as a car to drive, I love the way it hugs corners, accelerates and brakes.

Recently I've had a few more false indications on the dash; the bulb and brake disk warning lights have come on and I've checked all bulbs and had the pads checked professionally and there's no actual problems, just incorrect dash warning lights. I imagine that's going to cost a fair bit too when the next MOT is due because I heard warning lights on the dash are an instant fail. Sigh.

My Skoda's claim to fame is my video of Thule "Rapid System" roof bars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eWgmSMDFTA) which has had 16,323 views.

That's all about me for now. I hope I get to help someone else here one day. My most "advanced" maintenance on my Octavia so far has been to replace the headlamp on the drivers side.

Have you thought about looking on the VCDS map, there maybe someone near you that could give you a scan.

Hi and welcome aboard.

I'm such a noob I don't even know what VCDS map is or where to find it. I think I know what a scan is - plugging a laptop/computer into the car and running some diagnostic software?

So much to learn!

No worries, VCDS is the software used to scan Skodas, VW's etc, there is a map and a list of members that have the software, there may be someone close to you that has it and could do a scan for you for a beer token  I'll put the link below.
