Looks about right, there should be 4 wires connected to it.

  • When you know it will be bad to start, try jumping the car from another battery....

  • Look for a replacement from a scrappy? As for VCDS, look in VCDS forum on here there is a thread with a list of people who have it. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Yes there was 4 wires going to it

Umm, never seen one with that type of connector on it before. Can you post a photo that's zoomed out a bit?

I will get another pic tomorrow.

From the few pics I can find in the net they are in that sort of area, with a choice of 3 different connections

square 4 pin

D-shaped 4 pin

D-shaped 2 pin

D shaped 4 pin sounds familiar. I don't have a mkI anymore so I can't go and look. The plug should pull off towards the back of the car.

Looks like you need the square 4 pin then. Genuine only though.

Don't buy a cheap eBay one though, get a proper one from Skoda or TPS. Or someone like rainworth Skoda who sell genuine parts on eBay. Buy a cheap one and you will have problems.

I wont be getting a cheap ebay one. It was just the easyist was to show the different connection types.

Anyone have a rough idea on how much a genuine CTS cost?

About £30?

update time on this,

a mate of mine borrowed a code reader thing (not VCDS), it can turn of service lights, read codes etc, (I know nothing abouth these things)

I asked him to plug my Octavia into it, no codes shown up but it did say glow plug relay short curcuit.

Could this have something to do with it?
