312mm brake pads in 280mm disc calipers?

Featured Replies

Is there any interchangeability with the brake pads for 312mm discs, to be used on 280mm braking setup?

Its been asked of me as my Audi TT pads that came with my 312s are on fleabay at the moment, and I don't have the foggiest whether these pads will fit calipers in other systems. (new shape Beetle 1.8T in this case)

I would imagine they'll be different J. Why not look up the number for the 1.8T beetle.

1JO 698 151 F - totally different part to the Audi ones I have here - S0 these are deffo 312mm ONLY and can't fit in any other braking setup. :)

They will fit the 288mm set up on the Octavia/Golf so should fit the Beetle.

oooooh.... I think a quick edit is needed. What about the vRS Fabia 288mm setup? ;)

edit: thingy said the beetle had 280mm discs not 288s, is that likely to make much difference?

Depends if they are FSIII calipers or not.

And no they wont fit the Fabia vRS, they have different calipers like we have discussed about 100 times before...tut.

Hmmm.. hard to tell mate - It tells me there's two varieties of Hub housing WITH caliper carrier integrated (FSIII like) and one type of just "wheel bearing housing"

Its off a 1.8T beetle, so would expect it to be quite high up in the spec... Hmmm, but the damn thing doesn't mention engine codes in relation to wheel bearing housings so it doesn't really help me any further. :(

I just told the bloke if its a 288mm system the TT pads will fit, and left it at that. ;)

edit: I've never been paying attention to the braking threads clearly. ;)
