Octavia Scout 2.0 TD - Bigger intercooler

Featured Replies

The scout seems to go off the boil slightly when being pushed & Im guessing its needing a bigger intercooler.

Anyone know if a larger one off any other VAG car will fit

For my benefit...

An intercooler, or charge air cooler, is an air-to-air or air-to-liquid heat exchange device used on turbocharged and supercharged internal combustion engines to improve their volumetric efficiency by increasing intake air charge density through isochoric cooling. A decrease in air intake temperature provides a denser intake charge to the engine and allows more air and fuel to be combusted per engine cycle, increasing the output of the engine.

Won't you also need to upgrade the turbo, or risk shortening its life?

The way to tell is to monitor the air-temp post-intercooler.  IF there is a sensor there you can probably read it by VCDS and determine how the reading looks.

You can also flush out the inside of your intercooler to make it work a bit better.  It's already a full width front-mount which appears plenty big enough.

Don't !!!!!!!!!!!! Tempt me

Hybrid Turbo, Injectors & a decent clutch come in at £2500 & will give around 240 bhp, As its only the daily drive Im trying to resist temptation

My old Mk 1 4x4 after mapping would quickly go off the boil, I got Allards to build a huge cooler & it was a total revelation, even in the summer in Southern Europe it held up well

Hadnt thought of flushing it out, cars done 93K so might be an idea.

Car definitely going off the boil after a good thrashing so certain its just a temp issue
