Front Assist

Featured Replies

This might sound like an odd question regarding front assist (I'm aware of the delivery issues with this) but it's regarding the braking at low speed. I know someone who has a similar setup on a Mazda and they have had problems parking their car in the garage, the car will brake before it allows them to get close to the end garage wall, which effectively means they can't get the whole car in the garage (not sure how they overcame this). If the Skoda system works in the same manner does it cause similar problems. Can it be disabled in Maxidot?

The system can be turned off in the maxidot but to be honest I've never had a problem like this. I think the system is only active above a certain speed but I may be wrong here.

Hope this helps !!

Not sure if the skoda has a lower speed limit for the tool but I stood in front of the car when my dad pulled it into the garage. I stood right in front of the radar on purpose but it did nothing. He hit me (obviously at low speed and I was expecting it) but I thought the whole point of it was in this scenario it would stop the car for you?

From my screenshot it should work between 5km/h and 34km/h.

So get your dad to drive much faster at you in the garage... What's the worst that could happen...

(Don't do this at home...I am only jesting!)

Hmm he may have been just under then. Time to try it out with a soft toy, I like my legs too much to risk it Mercedes style

I have this on my car & there is no problem parking in my garage. The FA is working as anyone passing & pulling in quickly the 1st stage warning appears in the bottom left of maxidot.

This has just raised an interesting problem.

How do you get it to drive on to a Eurotunnel shuttle? I mean it's going to throw a complete and utter "benny" when you try to put it within the 6" or so of the preceding car as you are required to do!

Turn it off ??

Go slow?

There's absolutely no issue to get really close to other parked cars or walls. I got within an inch of another car today with no problems or warnings.

it doesnt work on stationary objects so none of the above will be a problem.

While I was at the dealers today I was told why the FA sensor has changed.

Allegedly the original domed sensor was picking up things wider than the car and applying the brakes, the new one has a much narrower sensing width that should not exceed the car width.

Could I please clarify whether Front Assist is still being included on Elegance models?  I read somewhere that it had been stopped (maybe due to parts issue) but cannot find reference to it again.

It's been dropped.
