Skoda CitiGo PID Bluetooth inaudible

Featured Replies

Folks - I would really appreciate some help. I am the very proud owner of a red 3dr 13 plate Citigo Sport with the Navigon PID. Two things are wrong with it that the dealer seems unable to rectify. Firstly when having a conversation to someone in the car through the PID bluetooth phone system they are all but inaudible, with a huge amount of road noise at anything above about 30MPH. I have had it in with the dealer (Basingstoke) and they say they have adjusted the settings, but nothing seems to be different. Should I re-visit or is this issue something that others encounter. The in car communications are fine and the person in the citigo making the call has no issue - its just the caller speaking to the citigo who can't hear what's being said. The second issue is that the Navigon has stopped taking a charge from the car. It seems to work fine transferring data etc but will not charge - I presume this is a car issue and not a PID problem - help please?

Welcome to Briskoda first of all :)

The PID is definitely not muted? (there is a little mic icon that would have an x through it)

What phone is it?

My S3 I sometimes have to press the headset icon on the phone to activate the microphone, otherwise I am just being heard through the phone mic (which would explain your quiet voice and loud road noise to the person on the other end of the line)

Have you tried it with a different phone? could the mic volume have been turned down on the handset?

And have you tried unpairing and repairing?

As for the charging issue, have you taken the dock off and reseated it? Some people had issues losing connection as it wasn't fully seated correctly

It has been known that the PID mount has a connection problem.

Remove and refit it and see what happens.

Thanks folks - phone and PID are not muted.  The voice comes through, it is just swamped by road noise.  I have also tried fitting and re-fitting numerous times to get the charging to work.

What phone are you using please?

Oops - just spoken to my better half who informs me that there is a x through the mic symbol, so I guess that answers my question - i'll keep you all posted and thank you very much for your speedy replies.

Sometimes its the most simple things that get overlooked.

Cant believe the dealer didn't find the problem though!

Just need to sort your charging out now.

Try the USB cable and see if it charges the PID whilst on a computer/ USB charger? If it does it could be the PID mount?

Go back to the dealer or a friend with another Citigo and plug in the PID to see if it charges (with/without the PID mount).

Charged the PID up last night overnight via the USB cable into a plug socket and it was fully charged this morning - or so the battery indicator showed.  After about 45 minutes of driving this morning I was met again with the low battery warning screen and subsequent shut down.  I can't even get the thing to turn on now.  I suspect it will need to be returned to the dealer which is a right pain, as the closest one is 45 minutes away!

Definitely sounds like the mount to me

Either not seating correctly or just plain faulty

I doubt it's the PID. It would be the mount as said.

I have the opposite to your charging problem-will charge when docked in the car but, will not charge via the USB cable wether via the computer or mains adapter.

Probably a daft question, I know...but have you tried a different cable?

Yes,different cables,different chargers,no difference at all.

Righto.

Thought you would have, but thought it was worth asking all the same

Only found out yesterday, does not bother me too much as it works perfectly in the car but,its a couple of hundred pounds worth so I suppose it should work spot on,might be worth returning to the dealer for an exchange at some point?.

Definitely mate

Take it back whilst its under warranty

Silly question but have you tried charging it when disconnected from the mount to rule that out ?

Looks like I have been caught out here, the cunning plan is to charge the unit when it is switched off or in standby mode.If you try and charge it with the screen activated there is not enough umph! in the charger to power up the screen and charge at the same time. Thanks for your responses.

Oops...glad your sorted now fella

When charging via the USB, I know that if you use a USB hub without a dictated power supply it will probably not charge.

As far as low volume from the PiD, are you aware that the volume for calls, satnav and music can be set individually?

Adjust volume for each by volume knob on radio whilst in use.

For the satnav, adjust volume when it's giving a direction.

Just in case you didn't know :)

Not a day goes by that I don't learn something useful on this forum...
