DPF regen & rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

A good few times now I've had the off side rear parking sensor go nuts with the bar on the display to instantly red as I start to move even though there is nothing behind me, just had the same with the inboard off side and outer one and after switching the car off the fans kept running as it had been doing a regen of the dpf, now this has happened before so I'm wondering if it's the extra hot exhaust gases setting the parking sensors off.....

It only happens with the sensors on the exhaust side, during a DPF regen and only when moving, not when stationary but still in reverse..... Seems a bit far fetched but also kind of adds up.....

My mkII vRS rear sensors are prone to do the same but this is due to moisture collecting around the rubber rings the sensors are mounted in after its been raining- happened to me last week in Cornwall at the MIL's. A wipe with some dry tissue solves it if thats your problem.

I don't think it's that as it's happened when dry but as far as I can tell only during a regen and only when moving as if reversing through the hot gases sets it off, if I stop the sensors go silent but when I move again they start going off....

Well that is strange. Maybe theres a sensitivity setting they can turn down if its the sensors themselves though it could be some form of electrical or software problem. Time to visit the dealer. Might be worth videoing it on your phone if you can ti show them? Good luck

To be honest I'm not that bothered at the minute and will just wait for it's it at service and mention it then.... It's only happened a few times in 1700 miles....

Same issue on the front, 2 sensors on instantly yet nothing there. One is worse than the other. In fairness the dealer is swapping out as the car is on 11 months old.

If your having it at the front then it's not same issue! Lol!

Unless you are reversing very quickly!

Or tail gating the car/lorry in front  just to get a few extra mpg.

The few times I have had this on my Fabia has been due to frost covering the sensor.

Are you sure it's not the front or side sensors?

ALL sensors are active on reversing.

Got home tonight and noticed idle was at 1k rpm, put it I reverse no problems, but as soon as I start moving the two sensors near the exhaust go red on the display and I get a constant tone, only happens while moving too. Once I'd parked up and switch it off the fans kept running so I'm now 99% sure it's the regen causing it.....

Mine did this the other day. It turned out I had a leaf stuck to it.
