06 Fabia vRS Still down on power

Featured Replies

all,

This is going to be my last thread regarding my fabia i hope,

Ive owned it approx 2 months, around half of that time it has been back with the dealership i bought it from with issues,

So far it has had:

"New" Turbo

New intercooler

New MAF

New fuel filter

New EGR

The car is alot better, ive noticed the BLT Judder inbetween1500-2000rpm straight away again through...

The problem is, the car still doesnt feel like it has the correct amount of power/torque, it seems not to pull through the gears as hard as it first did before the turbo failure... it is extremely noticeable once i have 1 passanger of more in the car too...

1st and 2nd still pull quite hard, but as soon as you meet 3rd the power seems to die off for the rest of the geards, maybe im wrong though, i have only had the car working what i would say is 100% for the first day i owned it, as the turbo failed the next and i then spend 350-450 miles pottering around in it for the new turbo to run in and then the intercooler failed...

Any ideas would be much appreciated, or im just going to put my hand in my pocket and go to unit 18 i think.

What sort of MPG are you getting, is it massively down or about what it should be?

I'd say if you can get hold of someone with the VAG COM diagnostic software that could be beneficial. Can read error codes, they don't all bring the EML light up. Check if the cam timing is correct, show live sensor data etc. Should help pin point an issue if it's sensor/electronics/timing related.

As for being down on power, do you know anyone with a vRS that can take you out in theirs to compare? When I was looking I test drove 3-4 different ones and each one drove differently and pulled different through the revs. Two of them felt really down on power compared to the other two but had I not test driven a few examples I'd probably not really have noticed as they still pulled, just not as good and as far as I was aware all were standard examples.

Have you done the blt gasket fix

All of the work was completed at a seperate gargae that the dealership use for their warrently work. I wouldnt be abl to comment on their work but from looking at the garage i wouldnt send my own car to them out of choice..

Im not aware if they have completed the gasket fix though.

any other ideas?

Is there a RR near you? for £40 I'd stick it on one just to see what power it's making, will give you a 100% yes or no if there is a issue.

What do you mean THEY do the gasket fix ?

The only decent way to do the fix, as per on here is to fit the improved gasket yourself which they won't do as it will exceed the emissions regs. From memory its the 9mm one but I may be wrong on that so don't quote me. If you don't then you won't probably entirely fix the "stutter" issue.

I did it myself, its not exactly difficult.

As for the rest, yeah just to take it someone. They can fit the proper gasket fix for the EGR if you don't feel up to it.

PS Mayney I'm not THAT far away from you, if you want to compare with another car and I can check your ECU too.

If you can make it to me and I can scan your car for faults, plus  I can help you swap out the gasket for the ideal one too if you aren't sure it was fitted ?

VAG Part Number 028 131 547 B - only costs a few quid from a dealer and the rest of the details are here.

They may have only fitted it with the 14mm fix ?

Cheers Domino, im going to give it a week i think, need to get some money together, call the place i bought the car from and decide from there.

Sure no problems, if you need help just give a shout and see if you can make if over and then you can compare my old 107k (but seemingly working pretty well) BLT to yours, plus ECU scan if you need, plus your EGR gasket etc
