Retire..!!! You can't do that. The car looks fricken brilliant and there probably isn't much to so different in fairness but you can never say the modding reign has ended.!

On another note I sent those bushes back as did so a bit of research on them and from what I found they aren't exactly an improvement. I know you get what you pay for but would've at least thought they would last as long as the oe ones but most if dos last aparrantly make god awful noise.

Anyhow, they're gone and today got my new tyres all fitted and that made a huge improvement to the overall drive of the car.

Falken ze914's in 205/50 so oe size.

Had these on my mg and did several track days and they always lasted and always gripped really really well even when being properly pushed so although not a top brand will do for me.

Also got some pagid dimpled and grooved discs and some ebc pads for starters until I can afford the big boy pads for the beast lol.

Will hopefully get some pics up once I start getting the bits changed over.

Well I have a couple of pics from earlier today.

Don't worry I didn't use the equipment at the place other than the wash lance as had tried a custom detailed a week ago and just wanted to see how it worked with just water being used afterwards.

So a weeks worth of dirt vanished nicely

Didn't come up too bad in fairness. Just another excuse to add a few more picture of the car as I was told last week I needed to get more of it on here.

I know no updates at present other than new tyres but at least its looking clean :D

A small update in mine, after a few items arriving this week for the Octy I managed to get one thing done today. Was meant to be a relaxed and time spent process so tht it came out with a very nice finish but unfortunately due to issues arising half way through I had to hurry it along and its not as great a finish as I'd hoped.

It still looks nice and when I can spend some more time redoing it and going over the not so good bits it'll hopefully look very nice.

Only got 2 pics of the half assed finished product but over the next week or so there should be a few more updates with the brakes and exhaust and so on but for now, my black grill.

As I say, it's rough round the edges as could leave it to dry for long enough really but hopefully with a bit of touching up at a later date will look better :)

Black grill surround FTW spot on

Cheers. It does transform the front of the car doesn't it, as soon as I saw them on here I knew I had to get it done. Have to see how the spray holds up as used a plastidip type thing. If not any good may need to look into getting someone to wrap it for me ;) ;)

Just need to touch up and then sort my slats out as the two broken ones is really winding me up.

Not sure whether to go oe or a black mesh??

Plasti dipped been on over a year. Admittedly it's not a daily driver. But has survived the odd track day or three and motorway and green lane brisk driving.

That does look so nice. I definitely need to go over mine again then as can tell even in the pic yours has a much nicer finish than mine.

At least it shows that it should stand up to the test of time for a while.

Another can will be on its way soon I think then and will go over it again :)

In all honesty I wouldn't even bother this time of year. Best to wait till summer. Then warm can in hot water for five mins and shake. Then apply three light coats with 20 mins drying time between. Job done.

I know not the best time of year for doing things like this but I had to get rid of the chrome, stood out far too much for my liking.

May just see how this coat goes for now and wait until spring to give it a proper revamp then and will take your advice on the can in warm water, was warm indoors where it was stored so wasn't too bad but will see how it goes trying it that way :)

A small update but unfortunately a lack of pics as was borrowing a ramp in my mates unit to get the brakes sorted and then was being pressured to hurry up after been in there for 20 mins as a work mate decided he needed the ramp for his car so I unforunately only have an after shot from when I got home.

They aren't anything too special at present but seem ok in fairness. Pagid dimpled and grooved discs along with Ebc pads which really are temporary until can afford the ferodo racing pads.

Still has stopped the awful wobble and vibration and are actually quiet despite all the warnings I was told about discs being squeaky and annoying.

More updates will follow as things are progressing now and the garage is filling up with bits to go on the car :)

Why is it that when you go and spend some (not really spare) money on treating the car to some tasty upgrades it goes along and bites you on the ass??

I have over the past 3 weeks been getting a few items ordered as the car was in need of a few additional extras to make it stand out a bit and now it seems that the diff has a whine and could need possible replacement.

This is getting me down a little as I wasn't planning on having to so anything box or clutch wise for a while. At present it is only noisy between 40-60 worst at 50mph constant and doesn't affect the drive or performance but is so flipping annoying having it doing this noise all the time as there's a few roads round us where it is a 50 limit so can hear it often enough.

Have been speaking to a few on here about boxes and just trying to see what's best options on that front.

However, I only have one pic at present that's of semi decent quality to show one of the upgrades I bought before this noise became apparent.

Expect some lows from me in the near future

I also now have poly top mounts and full turbo back stainless toyo/milltek courtesy of some very fine people on here. Unfortunately no decent pics of the exhaust at present as garage has no lighting and its so bloody cold out there right now.

Pics will be up over the next few days though once bits cleaned up a bit to show what will be going on the car coming upto the new year.

Then it looks like box and possible clutch upgrade after some more research as to what's best :)

Bad luck on the box front. Time for solid flywheel VR6 clutch and wavetrac diff. That should see you rid of £2k of not spare cash ! Well worth it though.

Ha, god if money wasn't an issue and I could honestly afford to do it then I may have considered that route. However with an engine on 125k at the time being I don't think ill spend that amount even if I could at present without doing something serious with the engine too.

May be going the 2nd hand route with a solid fly and vr6 clutch if it is a worthwhile mod to do? No experience with these so dont know allure ins and outs yet.

Well a of tomorrow my (build thread) may have a big update. Won't spoil it too much at present and don't go thinking I've bought Terkins engine and box as its nothing that major but there may be things changing on here over the next 18 hours.

Biggest update to my thread if it does happen :)

oh man got excited then

Haha. If I had that cash mate I'd be having the setup off you + brakes and the tasty pillar gauges as they look sweeeet.!

Unfortunately I don't have a £3k upwards budget :(

  • Author

Well afte wetting messed about all day I was eventually let down so the big update isn't going to happen.

So on with electrical gremlin hunting and possible box replacement hunt.

Why did I buy a backstabbing red.?? Lol.

Electrics first but after cleaning all the main earths in the bay and to ecu I'm still having my clock issues and getting more frustrated daily.

oh well buy my engine cheer yourself up

How did you get on with the induction kit?

How did you get on with the induction kit?

I sent it back with photos as they were asking why I was saying it didn't fit.

I know as you said the brackets were out but these were so far out I wasn't really happy with it.

Once I tried again (even trying your wedging) idea which still didn't hold up I decided to split my old fabricated kit I had on the mg and modify to fit the vrs.

It should hopefully be fitted by tomorrow, just need to slightly compress down the lengths via closing up the gaps in pipes a bit and then decide to go for either the foam itg or cotton gauze green air filter.

Trial ran it yesterday with the itg and no panels on the front and Christ, the noise was immense. Not loud and ott but the spool noise and dv chatter was superb :)

Would love to buddy. Don't have that amount of money though :(

May need the upper battery fuse box and earth leads though if they're available and up for sale as looks like may have an earth issue there somehow.

Other than that its gearbox time..

haha hoping its sold now so to late

yeah i have those

I think I'm going to pass on 2014 as I was hoping it was going to be a better year than last as it was pretty s**# with everything going on and 2014 hasn't even given me a full day before trying to screw me over.

Flipping gearbox or clutch has gone bang on me, it literally did bang and pedal straight to floor and won't budge with a black plastic bracket of sorts falling into the footwell and I now have no drive.

It sounded like the gearbox was whining at speeds as I'd said in the thread but this has topped it all off for us especially as start of the year.

Now need to get it to a VAT registered garage to see what's happened so that the warranty may pay out on part to help fix the ruddy thing.

Either way now will be looking for better option of clutch and if worth converting it to g60 & vr6 or if just go for a standard setup or a solid conversion.?

May also need a box depending on the outcome so if anyone can give advice or heads up with something for me to think about that would e great but I may not know for a couple of days what exactly I need.. :(

hmmmm dare i say red :giggle:

sucks, sucks and then some more

g60&vr6 dont even think about it just get it much better!
