hi all

 

my dad has a 2013 Fabia monte 1.6 TDI and so far he loves it, all except the headlights which he finds to be really poor at night, he does a lot of motorway driving too and from work and with winter being on us he's finding it really straining on his eyes at night.

 

he wants to upgrade them but isnt sure what options are available.

 

did the Fabia 2 come with Xenon lamps at all? or will he be better off going for an HID after market kit on there?

 

any help greatly appreciated.

I do think the black headlamps look cool, but making the fastest version of the fabia (vrs) with the worst headlights just doesn't make sense to me.

Id put a 55w HID kit in there. Should be pretty good after that.

I have honestly not found them that bad.

I think its alont down to most moden cars using seprate bulbs for main and dipped beam, where as these lamps use just the one.

Dont get me wrong they are not great (my corsa van headlights are better)

But i wouldnt use the words "horrific" or "dangours"

I guess theyre no worse than a car that uses h4 bulbs then?

going to order the old boy some osram nightbreaker gold bulbs and fit them for him at the weekend, hopefully that will help

Kind of the difference being the projector lamp concentrates the light more (no where near as an old C15 we ran at work that had a twin filement lamps)

To go from low to high beam it operates a mechanism with in the lamp to adjust the beam.

I can see why they designed it like it but when they run the S2000 Rally car with a modded version of this lamp it kinda says it all

AWD would have been a nice option, and a 2 lt or even just a 1.6 t (petrol) engine.

 

Maybe in a mk3, maybe in the Rapid.

Gota agree even which the extra lamp in side still looks black enought o work well
