Can someone explain this suspension setup?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at buying a Fabia 1.9 TDI vRS and I've spotted this one, looks very tidy but the suspension at the front seems lower than the back.

I looked at the car at night and took a few pics of the suspension (sorry for crap pictures!).

After googling a bit it looks like it could have AP coilovers fit but with different springs at the rear???

Front:

Rear:

These are what I've stumbled across online, I've noticed the purple shock (front) and the AP sticker (rear):

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers :)

It looks bloody awful, looks like its rear standard springs to me.

If someone can get that so bad, you have to wonder what else

Haha shocking!

He must be called Arthur.

as they're new springs they could be standard replacement/ wrong ones'   I know of someone actually having trouble sourcing the correct ones for a polo   easy enough to change  20 minutes work

Those fronts don't look parallel wound. More like springs - (ha!) than coilovers.

If you go see it, be sure to ask... Or if IM or email, ask anyway! :)

I will leave this one, just thought it could have been an easy fix to replace two springs and have a good suspension setup (that's if it had one, and the seller didn't realise).

Oh well, on to the next one!

if the money is right go for it :) could be a simple fix

Errr, that kind of bitsa bodgery is indicative that the car is being maintained and repaired on a shoestring budget and the fact it's for sale means the moneys probably run out.

I wouldn't touch it.

Looks like the AP shocks and springs kit

I have the same kit and my springs are also blue

But the rear on that Fabia has standard springs in with the AP shock absorbers, must have snapped a spring or something, did a quick fix by putting standard springs in the rears because you can't buy rear lowering springs on there own, would have to buy a set of 4

Yes you can, you just contact AP and tell them a spring has broken and they'll supply you a replacement pair, maybe even FOC if you embarrass them enough.

You would still have to pay if you broke a spring and ordered one from AP though wouldn't you?? which would work out more then what it would cost to get a pair of standard rears, if you didn't have the set that you removed from your car in the first place sitting in the garage..

Would probably take a while for it to get to you as well, so this guys probably just put standards in as the cars for sale and he doesn't want to have to spend more money on it

More likely he couldn't work out how to do what I just said Harry.

Step away from the drag car lol

Simple fix

Rear spring install takes 10mins per side

The hard work is done

The rear spring is sat directly onto the body too. . . (Rubber insert thing is missing). .

Not a hard job to put it right tho

Hardly worth the hassle when there's many other vRS's for sale.
