Driving lights

Featured Replies

My wifes Fabia Estate does not have fog lights and was built just before driving lights became mandatory on new cars. Now the dull days are with us she fancies having driving lights fitted. The local dealer wants hundreds of pounds to install them, meaning no thanks probably. Has anyone updated their car using OEM eqivalent offered by Phillips and Osram? Was the task difficult? Thanks for any input.

Cheap alternative is to use sidelights just like the old days. At least tail lights are on then too so you are more easily seen from behind.

You might have more joy posting this in the Fabia section.

I'm a little unsure as to what you mean by driving lights, do you mean DRL's (Daytime Running Lights)?

In which case there are plenty of aftermarket LED products available but they look tacky.

I'd buy the combined fog / DRL clusters and just wire up the DRL's to a live feed yourself. If you want the fogs too then it's a new headlight switch, coding and wiring etc.

How about getting the DRL's turned on with VCDS, this will utilise the dipped beam, but the brightness can be reduced.
