2 mudflaps or 4?

Featured Replies

If you use the UK Yeti Outdoor configurator and choose the "rear mudflaps" option - in the final view the configurator shows not only the rear mudflaps, but also front ones fitted... yet there is no option available for "front mudflaps".

If the "rear mudflap" option is not chosen... then neither mudflaps, front or rear, are shown.

Question is... when choosing the "rear mudflaps" option - do they throw in the fronts as well? Or do you just get the rears?

As the option only costs £20, it would appear remarkably cheap to have 4 mudflaps fitted... if that's the case?

Very interesting.I didn't notice that on the configurator.

I've Specced those on my L&K order.

I thought for £20 why not?

I'll let you know what it comes with, though don't hold your breath. :giggle:

I have front mudflaps but must admit they do not seem to help in keeping the car clean. I am not sure if it is the tyre width, the height of the car or what ever, but the car looks dirty down  both sides within yards of driving in the wet. I know you are going to get a lot of dirt thrown up on the back with it being square/slab sided, but I have never known a car get so dirty so quickly down the sides. I washed it last Saturday and within a five mile trip to the shops it was almost ready for a full wash down again

So, Yeti people, are mudflaps a waste of time?  Also, how are they fitted? Do you have to drill our precious metal? Do they 'trap' mud causing corrosion? Do they get caught during mild off road driving? Just asking.............

No drilling required, the holes are already there by removing the plastic screws, yes they do seem to trap mud, but not sure if it will cause any long term damage, perhaps others who have had them longer and with higher mileage could comment on this. My opinion is, they are cheap, they add a little to the appearance, but don't expect too much from them

Anyone chosen the rear mudflaps option on their FL? Do you get fronts as well? Or are these extra?

You only get the rears if that is what you order but the fronts are the same on the FL as they are on the pre-FL so iether ask your dealer to  supply and fit the fronts as well, or you could fit them yourself in about ten minutes as I did.

Thanks. In that case I will buy some off EBay then and fit myself.

I bought some today from my local dealer - £29.60 (inc vat)

Can confirm - you order rear mudflaps & you only get rear mudflaps. I have ordered a set of fronts but its worth ordering rears on the Configurator so as to get the right ones for the FL model.

The £20 gets you rear mud flaps only well worth it though as they are a tad more awkward to fit yourself. Then get a set of fronts to do yourself only 3 T25  torx screws to undo and some jiggling to do on the on the top nodule that fits into the arch as it is a tight fit,so a soak in hot water or slight prising open and your done.(Or get them fitted by a friendly Briskoda member as i did ) :hi:

Effectiveness= ran my car 2 weeks without flaps first and the effect with them on is better, not %100 but as we say upt' north better than nowt.

Trap some mud yes but if you have a pressure washer no worries.

I was quoted just over £40 by the dealer to supply and fit front mudflaps. So when I order my new Yeti I will get the rears fitted for £20 and buy and fit my own front ones

I have had front and rear Skoda yeti Mud flaps fitted, and then bought Halfords rally mud flaps for £14.00 ( two in a pack), so kept the originals on and cut the Halfords mud flaps longer 50mm and a little wider 5mm,  so now stops all the dirt up the side and hitting the rear doors and less dirt on the rear tail gate. the front flaps need a bit more cuting out as there is a metal bracket fixiing on the Yeti mud flap, every yeti owner I have shown thinks it's great you don't know that there are there.

Photo’s?

Very easy to fit...You don't even need to take the rear wheels off

I fitted Caine9's last week for him.

Don't pay for it!!

Have you some picture of you modified mudflaps please

Hi Chilley - Yes I would appreciate if you could provide us with some photos - the Halfords rally mud flaps are very reasonably priced.

The front OE Škoda mudflaps are pretty useless - look at the mud line on my doors:

Better than nothing I guess but hardly worth the bother.  And if you look at the front of my caravan the rear one's are as useless! I was on slippery, muddy grass on a campsite and the rear wheels spun and splattered the caravan.

Oh joy, I just fitted fronts and back this morning as the wife works up muddy roads.  Even a small difference will be better than without them on there.

I can confirm that it is a simple job.  It took me about 45 minutes including cleaning the area around where they were being fitted.

I would also like to see the pics of the rally flaps please?

I am puzzled reading this, since everyone on this (and other sites) seems to day it is fairly quick DIY job to fit mudflaps onto a Yeti. Maybe the design of the flaps has changed marginally,

The holes for the Torx25 screws fit nicely against the slots for the exiting soft plastic interior cover but the lower two holes have a plastic thickness of about 3mm compared to about 1mm for the top one. Extra reinforcement : FINE. But the Torx25 screws themselves now have less length to purchase on the hidden locking material (plastic?) being the wheel arch interior cover. A problem: longer T25 screws needed as a standard fitting?

Secondly, the clip is a really difficult to press home, needed some brute force. Once home though makes the whole project rigid.

Correction : Cannot find edit functionality!

Apparently it doesn't appear on a "smart" phone app, and times out after a few hours on computers....
