  • The only opinion that matters,is yours.

  • I 'm one of those who like (adore would be more appropriate) the Yeti with round fog-lights over the FL any given day. But it is also as important for everyone to understand that the above statement

  • Totally agree with Truthseeker............ But then I've just ordered one too!!!

That's a shame Mr AG.

In our house I am "The Boss", so I get to buy whatever car I want  - period!

In trust you've told her

And me.

I consider myself lucky to have just secured a pre-fl  in the nick of time. I have no doubt that ownership of a pre-fl sways me a little to considering this luck rather than misfortune but I don't think the concerns expressed about certain aspects of the fl are "knocking it" just expressing a preference. After all it is essentially the same machine and we wouldn't be here unless we shared a common affinity with the brand and build. I suspect if I was still "yetiless" I would  seriously consider the fl model (outdoor only), especially considering the alternatives available, but I am pleased I don't have to think about it for a few years.

I think that I can sum my thoughts by not having that feeling that I will be missing out by not replacing my Mk1 with a FL.  Other Mk1 cars that I have owned before have always felt a bit outdated when their makers have updated them.  Normally ends up with me buying the facelift asap.

I don't dislike the FL look but think that if they'd still incorporated the froggy eyes in FL that I would be having that sense of needing to buy new asap.  I think that both Autocar and Auto Express also share that slight sense of disappointment.  They both say that FL is good but not much different to drive than before.

Added to the change in look, I won't be thinking about replacing until the true Mark 2 Yeti arrives in a couple of years time.  I could forgive blander looks then, if things like the engine and suspension are improved in step with the Yeti's competitors.

Equally the odd/unique looks of the pre-fl could have put punters off which is why they've aligned it with the rest of vag styling.

You're probably right but it would be interesting to break in to the Skoda design offices and take a look at the alternative FL designs where at least one must surely have included froggy eyes.

I doubt it. But the juke still has froggy eyes ;)

The next car to lose its unique /odd looks is the mk2 roomster. It's set to become a badge swapped Touran mk3

Unlucky wife.

Who cares!

No need - she knew the score from day one in 1969 and nothing has changed.

I love my cars, always have and always will (Yeti FL will be my 102nd BTW since age 17).

She dose not dictate what I can or can't buy, no more than I get involved with her "purchases"

Who cares!

Must be wonderful having a hubby like you

Absolutely, and something I have been saying for some time.

Now now, let's keep personalities out of a thread on the FL please.

As it so happens, my wife is severely disabled with MS and I am her full time carer, so yes, I suppose she is lucky in that respect .

You were the one who posted 'who cares!'

I simply responded.

I'll leave it at that.

Just responding "sarcastically" to the similar sarcastic post - "unlucky wife".

Oh dear not another VW clone in the line up; when are they going to drop the VW, Seat and Audi badges and leave Skoda to get on with their own styling

102 cars in perhaps 50 years and 1 wife in 44 years. Just as well it's that way round because otherwise that would have been a very expensive hobby you've indulged yourself in!!!

If you had the cars consecutively that would mean a new car to get to grips with every six months. That's about as long as I've had my Yeti and it was only last week I finally worked out how to use cruise control properly!

102 cars in 44 years (I am 61). I usually have always had more than one car to play around with at any one time, but yes 6 months is about right. Cars have always been my passion, and I get bored very easy, although not with the wife.

I still wish they would bring back the tangerine colour, I thought it would reappear with the FL.

Jungle green should look smart 'in the flesh' though.

As prodata said it's not the front end that tends to divide non Yeti owners regarding looks it's the van like appearance. Obviously mine being red gets the Postman Pat tag.

MarieK

Totally agree with you regarding the tangerine colour. I would love that.

Ahhhh......my beloved Tangerine Beetle.  Or Brilliant Orange, as I think it was called then.

@spottydog The 'square' back section is the reason why I HAVE chosen the Yeti - coupe-looking SUV's not as flexible for load carrying!

Same as Freelander and no one is put off by that. Anyway, I love the boxy look.
