Winter Pack? Any good?

Featured Replies

Can anyone confirm if the heated screen is available on its own ? The Skoda UK site shows it as a £200 option on the VRS. I was under the impression you had to have the full winter pack ?

You cannot add the screen without the seats :( however I believe that you can still add the washers on their own....

Is it a case of the website has been update incorrectly yet again ?

I wasn't allowed to add the washers, without the screen (which I didn't want) but I could have the heated seats on their own.

They must have changed it since I last checked...

Wish we could select the options we wanted and not be forced into the choice of to go for the pack or not to.

I got a 1.4 TSI. I hate so much that I could not have heated windshield on this engine. I really need this one. I got heated seats and this is awesome. 1 min on fulll power and I already feel like in Bahamas. I cannot say anything about the heated washers but this was not recommended by the dealer. At -5 degrees I dig not feel the need of these. It was as good as in summer. Good luck with your choice

Is there a technical reason the winter pack is not available with the TSI engine then? I'm going back to my dealer tomorrow with my decision about whether I want the car or not. Having had it on the Focus for 2 years I'm not sure I now want to be without it.

Apparently it's to do with the size of the alternator. They need to keep it small to get the low CO2 levels and consequently it's not powerful enough to handle the heated screen.

The diesel needs a bigger alternator anyway so it's okay.

Aha. That maskes sense. Still I hate it every day. I have to manually clean the car with my wife. Not sure if it can be retro fitted.

I tend to use water and sponge or an instant polish and other stuff to follow up. Do you get a good finish? Are earbuds involved?

I am talking about each day at 8 am. I have something like thin ice on the windshield and all the windows. The rear is melted in 2 mins and I wipe the water from inside. But the windshield does not heat so quick so I clean it with a tool.

It seems like I ridiculous reason to me when Ford have managed to do it since the 80's and still manage today on all their petrol models.

This seems to be common for Skoda. You can have this but you can't have that.....

I can imagine it putting a lot of people off. Certainly I swear every time swmbo has driven mine (3 or 4 times a week) that Skoda won't allow electric memory seats and mirrors with the vrs.

In 18months time I doubt my next car will be a Skoda unless I can get everything I want.

On another note, most people will probably have realised or read it in the manual but it took me ages to realise (slow ;)) that stop start won't function if the FRONT windscreen heating is on.
