Winter Pack? Any good?

Featured Replies

I have an Elegance Estate 2.0TDi on order and only extras I added were spare wheel and sunset glass. Build week is 51 so still time to amend it. Should I have specced the winter pack (heated windscreen, heated washer nozzles, heated seats) or parts thereof? Now we've had some cold days and frosty starts I'd be keen to hear from those who chose it on diesel models and what they think of it

Heated seats are always nice, cant tell any difference with the washer jets but the windscreen is worth the £430 alone, get in the car with the windscreen covered in thick frost, switch it on, drive off 30 seconds later, its brilliant.

I currently have a Mk6 Golf GTD and that comes with heated seats and nozzles (I think). Heated seats are just great to keep you cosy. My previous car was a Ford Focus which had a heated windscreen. That's a feature I am really missing now and looking forward to in my VRS on order. In short…all worth having..go for it.

I agree, heated screen is worth the pack cost on its own. First time I have had this on a car, and over the last few days it has been fantastic. You do notice elements in certain conditions, principally low sun, but soon get used to this

Number one option on my list; have the heated seats and screen on the current Yeti and it's great not having to wait 20 minutes for the cold running TDI to warm up enough to keep the cabin warm and the screen clear.

The screen is a must. Had them on previous Ford's but have gone without for a few years, so was first on the list for the VRS. Clears the frost quickly in the morning and is a great demister.

Heated seats I always thought was a bit soft, but now I have them an absolute delight.

Heated washers I haven't noticed yet, but when it really gets cold I expect these will come into their own.

So in conclusion, well worth the expense as far as i am concerned.

Another vote for winter pack here, I only wanted it for the screen which I previously missed going from a Mondeo to a Superb but still loving the heated seats even without the leather. In my old superb the leather needed a quick blast on frosty mornings but for me it always retained the heat too much after use so tended not to us it but with the Alcantara, they don't retain the heat after switching off the heating elements.

Winter pack is worth every cent. Even with the alcantara trimmed seats in the Elegance the heated seats are really great on a cold morning and the heated windscreen - the main reason I opted for the winter pack - is superb, melts ice in seconds. No regrets whatsoever in spending the money on it.

If only it came with a heated steering wheel. You've just scraped the side windows, brushed snow off the roof etc, and your hands are cold, it would be brilliant. Surprised it's not a common feature on more cars.

Thats the only problem I see.....great your front and rear screens are clear within seconds but you've still got to freeze your nuts off de-icing/scraping the side windows (fronts at very least) before you can go anywhere....unless of course you can get the windows open and are happy to continue to freeze :-) i suppose though its one less (and the biggest) window to have to worry about.

If I got a diesel i'd tick the box I am sure.

Re heated washer nozzles - had them as standard on a previous Lupo Sport - very useful and would spec in the future.

Can remember driving down M74 one winter lots of cars that were stopped on hard should trying to clear windscreen and I was whizzing past because could still use windscreen wash.  Only problem is that the water comes out of the nozzles but freezes on impact to the screen!

Granted, but the windscreen is the most difficult to clear, especially for those of us who are under tall :)

First options I chose were the heated seats followed quickly by the heated windscreen.

Wish they did a heated steering wheel (Absolutely lush in the 2 hire cars I've had with it) but I can understand the heated jets.... Plenty of times in the past I've cleared the screen, driven off, needed to clean the screen and the water has frozen on impact!

Definitely worth having!

But 9 times out of 10 it's only the front and rear windows that are frozen up for some weird reason.....

is heated windscreen (winter pack) available on 1.4 TSI Engines.?

It's not available on any petrol in the uk but some have managed to get orders thought somehow on early builds.... Best speak to your dealer...

From what i have read on this forum you can not get the winter pack with petrol engines. You can try as some have achieved it but i believe this has been more luck than judgement with early car orders and SUK have become wise to this.

Do it, just for the heated screen and washer nozzles. Well worth it.

Put the heated seats on full and sit on your hands, just don't try to drive like that  ;¬)

Have ordered the winter pack, will be the first time owning a car with it on.

Looking forward to that feeling of being able to get the screen clear quickly!

Added the winter pack today. Seems odd since I won't get the car until end of January so won't get to use it for almost a year, but I plan on keeping the car for a decade

Not so sure about that, it was snowing last March...

I absolutely love my winter pack. The heated screen is a godsend and the heated seats are superb.

I hope that cl244 knows something about the forthcoming winter that the rest of us don't..........I do not expect it to be over by the end of January, indeed it may not have really started. February is often very cold and as for last March and early April.........

Is there a technical reason the winter pack is not available with the TSI engine then? I'm going back to my dealer tomorrow with my decision about whether I want the car or not. Having had it on the Focus for 2 years I'm not sure I now want to be without it.

Can anyone confirm if the heated screen is available on its own ? The Skoda UK site shows it as a £200 option on the VRS. I was under the impression you had to have the full winter pack ?
