Brake Discs and Pads (also my Drivers door wont open from inside)

Featured Replies

Hey guys/gals!!!!

were newbies to the site so Hi for the first time

Now my Vrs is in need of some new discs, so I may as well do the pads at the same time. The question is, what would you recommend? I had some lovely Brembo on the A3 that I had before this so was wondering if the same would be fine for the Skoda?

Does anyone have their favourites?

Can you point out a cheap place to buy some?

Also, the driver side inside door handle has stopped working, now obviously I need to take off the door card to find out what's the cause, but is there anything in particular that I should be looking out for? Is this a common fault for the Skoda?

Thanks in advance peeps!

Looking forwards to your replies

Well i can pretty much guarantee there will be a debate to follow...

but from AAALLL the threads about brakes on here (my diesel ones included...)

Pagid Discs and Pads tend to be the preferred ones around here.

Welcome to Briskoda BTW !

Your going to end up looking for deeper pockets from reading on here.

Yeah, I've just spent half hour finding all the previous posts! ha ha

And................ I still don't have a clue!!!

As for deeper pockets, I think not! lol, its the wife's car so it will be made as safe as possible and stay that way!

Door problem will likely be cable related, it's either detached or broken.  If it's broken you may be able to hear the broken wire strands making a noise as the lever is operated.

Agree with above, it happened on my Audi a3 too, the crimped hoop on the end of the cable pulled off the end of the cable.

Thanks guys, I am hoping it is! cant hear a thing when moving it so I was just hoping it would be something really simple! Only thing to do now is explain to the wife how to take the door card off! lol (I've dislocated my knee so cant move!!!)

hhmmm... that post shudve been a bit longer...

mentioning there's still a 27% discount on them.

and giving the Brisk25 Promo code for ECP

(which doesnt work during sales or other promos)

I see they have 2 different types of front pads, Which ones would you suggest? one has a wear indicator, one doesn't, the one without is more expensive...........................

The Price for the pads is per axle, so im guessing I would need 2 sets for the front and 2 for the back?

If that's right then there going to be over £200 for pads and discs front and back! :wall:

No No.. One set is 4 pads - 2 per wheel.

Get the ones with the wear sensor, and if your car doesnt have it, just cut the little connector lead off.

Its only on 1 pad anyway.

Bear the Discs in mind though, thats priced per disc. And the ones on the link i sent is only for the front.

I believe Rear discs are 256mm - though i could be wrong. I've only got auld Drums on my Diesel.
