Skoda parts distribution........absolutely shocking

Featured Replies

Anyone else suffering from the current distribution shambles at Skoda?

I'm after two corner pieces to fit a Fabia Mk2 vRS front bumper, and there are, I've now found out, NONE in the country whatsoever, so I hope no-one with such a vehicle needs a repair anytime soon

It's hard to believe that such a basic part is so hard to come by

And from what I've heard from my local dealer, it's not an isolated incident

Not impressed

:(

Brimma, is the "none in the country" comment just a fob off by dealers?  I would find the telephone number of numerous dealers across the land and call them to see if anybody can get hold of them, if a dealer can just go and play hell with the useless liars you are dealing with. If you get the same answer everywhere, then order them from a european dealer, Holland or Germany maybe?

Also try the body shops in your area, they get aftermarket items for repairs, might be an option.

I rang another dealer who has access to the whole national system, and he assured me that there were none anywhere, they are apparently 'on back order'

They (VAG dealers generally, not just Skoda) have apparently gone onto a new computerised ordering system, and are in a complete mess

Some things which have been ordered for several weeks still haven't turned up, and other items are arriving within 24 hours when not anticipated

body parts are likely o be rarer than mechanical since the mechanical are shared across the whole VAG range.

Pretty common for a big wait on bodywork. A friend had to wait 6 weeks on a front bumper for a Fiat Panda 100hp. Bits for some Jap cars can also take a while.

I know they have been having problems with orders according to the guys at tps, random stuff turning up, or late.

being on back order doesn't mean they take ages though, when you order a back ordered part they should be able to tell you an estimated arrival date too.

Considering the number of parts in a car and all the different models both past and present they don't do a bad job.  The new VW ordering system has caused our local supplier a few headaches as well.

While my car has been in for warrenty work I have had two occasions where the garage have needed bit and they have been on back order and all the dealer can do is give you your car back broken and phone you when the bits come in so you can book an appoinment. On both occasions I got a phonecall within 4 weeks but I still think that it is a joke that there are none in stock across the UK.

These days it can be just as quick to get a part from Germany / Czech Republic than from VAG's UK warehouse.

I wouldn't worry if there are none in the UK, quite often next day delivery is still a real option assuming there is stock outside of the UK.

My car is with Skoda for a new rear door. Door 1 turned up damaged, so did door 2 so we are now awaiting on door number 3!

Yep, orderred some bits for mine on Monday afternoon last week. Part dropped and none in stock in the UK, still stocked at the factory. I picked it up from TPS at 10am on the Wednesday.

I don't think it's the "distribution" per se but more like the physical inventory management and the switch over to the new SAP system (globally) which is impacting the supply of parts. I can assure you that the actual distribution of parts is still top notch.

Have the same problem at my work, parts on back order = 2 days from France, long term back order = borrow from a brand new vehicle as the parts are not yet avaliable to buy , not just the vag market that can't organise its self mate!
