It's VRS time

Featured Replies

I've decided to take the plunge and have a hunt around for a decent VRS. Then I came across this one with most of the mods I would consider doing already done. Is it too good to be true?

Then there is this one, which looks like it's been pretty well maintained and kept standard:

Any thoughts?

  • You guys are so awesome! I really was hoping someone on here would know its history. Thanks for warning me away.   I salute you!

  • The interior in that red one looks awful

  • I'd also ask; Are you the owner and registered keeper on the V5 How many owners, including yourself Does the car have full service history (if so, date and mileages please) Are all the previous mo

Please do not even consider buying that red one

Its a complete scrapper

It is the 'diesel dog' car if anyone can remember it

Any links to posts about it?

I would say its too expensive ne way

And 1800 pound alloys????? Ha

It was on barryboys years ago

With a diesel dog sunstrip and around 10 charvers hanging out of it

I've known the car since it was new and its been ragged to death from day one. Everything on it is a bodge

Was also smashed around 2 years ago. Rear beam mangled and back quarter bent in

Had more weed smoked in it than a video with dr dre in

I didn't realise quite how ugly the front bumper on that red one was until I saw the barry boys pic...!

Does the black one sound okay to you guys?

P155ed myself when I read this, thanks for brightening my day up....

I couldn't resist a quick google

Even though that does look a state, I wonder what those guys commenting in the thread all drive, they seem to hate the car model itself more then the Fabia in the pictures lol

Please give me a shout out if anyone knows of any VRSs coming up for sale anywhere. I don't think my budget will stretch for an SE...but definitely for a well-maintained standard VRS.

mine is for sale just need to take the private plate of before I really advertise it. Look at the build thread US spec fabia vrs, also it's on standard wheels now

IMHO the black one, whilst beautifully spec'd, is expensive considering the miles, let's face it you can source a sat-nav for a few hundred quid, likewise the interior (although I would go down the route of a mk4 Golf Recaro interior myself) and put them on a lot lower miles car than that.

Of course. Fitting proper xenons with self-levelling and headlight wash would be more expensive and a pain to fit, but you could by a double hid set-up for around £160...

I would avoid that one, looks a right mess. If you have a bit more to spend then i would recommend this one - http://www.beechwoodcarsalesltd.co.uk/used-cars/skoda-fabia-1-9-tdi-pd-130-vrs-5dr-wednesbury-201310109217318 Comes with leather seats, Skoda sat nav, xenon headlights, etc. I purchased mine from the same garage and the owners brother owned that black one so i know it's been well looked after.

Rediculously priced

Thats a 2.5k car tops

I agree, it's a dealer though so it's going to be overpriced, it was originally up for £4.950 lol

Still wouldn't pay over 3.5k for it, but I know it's been well looked after and there are those extra's which you could even remove to make a decent amount of money back

That garage is about 5 minutes from my house. It looks a nice car and has had all the big jobs done. I.e turbo clutch ect.

Price still seems a bit rich though.

Oh Sages of Skodas,

I thought that black one might be worth a punt if I could get it cheap enough, then invest in some seats.

There are four I am eyeing up now, and here's what I have found out about them so far from the sellers:

  1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271332828961?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT   there wasn't any advisories on the last mot on the certificate.
I don't know when things have been changed but I know that brake discs and pads was done about 200 miles ago along with oil, fuel and air filter and oil change using top quality oil was nearly £100 just for the oil.
It had new front tyres 2000 miles ago and the rear look alright.
It hasn't got a rear wiper so the washers is disconnected and also I've never seen any water in the footwell
  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231106710553?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281217396174?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Bought 2 months ago got the work done. Guy serviced himself before I bought it. Clutch is fine not sure if its bee changed. Tyers are all fine. Car pulls like hell not sure on the map type it has had but it goes. It's been sat in my garage ever since. I have a discovery 4 that I get 19 mpg out of it so the fabia would have been great to drive to Aberdeen. But just going to keep my wife's a4 sline and use that for the long runs and let her use my discovery when I'm away. Didn't ever want to do that as she's a women lol.
All I can say the car is clean spent a bit of cash on it when I just got it. It's low miles I'm not trying to con any1 it's a good car.

I'm not sure why the first one is listed as a BIN for so cheap... Really tempted by the SE on the fourth link, but not sure about the durability of that custom sunroof. Would the SE go far north of £4k?

My plan is to narrow down to two in the next couple of days and pop round to where they are with my VagCom.

What oil costs £100??

I'm gonna check out the SE on no 4 on my list on Wed. Seller has listed it on auction, but looking at BIN for £5500. How high should I bid on it? They added the following in response to my questions:

'U have asked me to many questions to remember answer, the clutch fly wheel was changed on 60k , timing belt was done 2k ago, no bulges in tyres no reminders in mot, remapped by a local performance specialist, no water in footwel , rear washer wiper working, never been on a track , drives to good,'

I've been sending the following to the sellers of VRS' I'm interested in...I think I'm inundating them!:

Any advisories on the last MOT?
Has the clutch+flywheel replaced?
How long ago was the waterpump+cambelt replaced...I know you mentioned it was done recently?
When were the brakes+pads last changed?
How much tread on the tyres? Any bulges?
Has it spent any days on the track?
Any coolant or brake fluid changes?
Any suspension noises?
Oil + filters changed every 10k?
Aircon blowing cold? When was it last regassed?
Any leaks from the rain into the footwells?
Rear washer working well?
Any issues with the power steering?
Who carried out the remap? Any dyno graphs?

never buy a car off anyone who writes in txt spk, also personally I never trust an mot without an advisory! I am a pessimistic sceptic though :/
