It's VRS time

There's a service book stamp at 71k and in 07/2011 to say the tensioner belt and pulleys were done. Oil change is on variable interval. I'll be hunting down a Haynes Manual for it soon.

  • You guys are so awesome! I really was hoping someone on here would know its history. Thanks for warning me away.   I salute you!

  • The interior in that red one looks awful

  • I'd also ask; Are you the owner and registered keeper on the V5 How many owners, including yourself Does the car have full service history (if so, date and mileages please) Are all the previous mo

Rediculously priced

Thats a 2.5k car tops

The one at the dealer that 06 plate got leather and satnav ? Really ?

Wisebuyers seems to disagree, you couldn't even get a private one for that

Its a tad overpriced, should really be more like £4k, but of course you can bear in mind it also didn't have leather as standard, and satnav is optional extra.

Change of plan...I've decided to fork in the extra and go for an Octavia. Going to check this out on Friday:

Any thoughts?

Seems a tad overpriced for my liking, at least £500. Not taking into account any issues/work needed to reduce even further.

Have you bought this one then? I take it so by you saying you're looking for a Haynes manual imminently.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the above, I take it that the last service stamp was at 71k, and that the (cam)belt, tensioner and outlet was done - is there paperwork to back that up or is it just written in the book?

If there is no supporting paperwork, and if it were my car, I'd presume it hasn't been done, and get it done ASAP.

I never understand why or how people 'lose' paperwork they get for a car, it always arouses my suspicions...

Sorry I wasn't clearer, rtz.

I checked it out last Sunday...and with my current month long rental coming to an end, I figured I would just go ahead and buy it instead of spending another £500 on renting for yet another month. Picked it up on Friday.

There are two service stamps since the 71k; it's just that one that has the (cam)belt + tensioner check boxes ticked 'yes'. The seller said that was done by the previous owner who didn't have any receipts to prove it. I fully understand where you're coming from though. If there's no invoice then was it really done?

After the new years, I might give the garage it was allegedly done at a call to see if they have any archive records....otherwise I'll just book it in with Ally at Unit18.

There is a letter from when the fuel injectors were replaced under last year's recall...it says 1, 2 and 4 were done....what about 3?

Would you be kind enough to move this thread to the Octavia II section? My original intention to buy a Fabia I VRS ended up with an Octavia II VRS.

Many thanks.

Good call, get the cambelt done, I for one would hate for it to snap on you, at least you will have peace of mind.

Are you sure it wasn't the coil packs that were replaced? Only ask as SWMBO had an Octavia vRS and that had the factory recall for the coil packs done....?

Email skoda customer services with reg and chassis number, and they should send back its complete history

if the belt was changed and the service book says so, there is nothing to stop you contacting the place who did the work to get confirmation. If it was a  main dealer, then it will most likely have been done.

Thread moved to octy2 forum.

The Warranty Repairs Customer Confirmation from Sparshatts of Fareham says 'Carry out recall 2357 - Piezo Pump Injectors: replace No 1, 2 and 4 Injectors'

  • Author

Thanks, spud and mannyo. I'll get onto that.

Definitely quite curious. The dealer whose stamp is in the book saying cambelt was done is saying there is no record on their computer regarding a service. They did carry out the fuel injector recall, but no services.

Off to Ally I go!
