Off to collect my new Superb! :)

Featured Replies

Well as the title suggests, I am off to Ayr to collect my "new" Superb this morning.  It is an 09 plate Twin Door (I thought it was a saloon/hatchback till I logged on here :)) in SE spec with the 2.0 PD 140 engine.

I will be using it to replace my Passat Saloon TDI Sport 170 that I bought as a taxi.  The new one certainly looks bigger and more comfortable and having had two Passats that had engine failure I am hoping that Skodas reliability is true!!

I have seen a few Superbs in the metal but never sat in one or driven one so fingers crossed I actually like it after I have travelled from the East coast.

I will be putting my steel wheels and winter tyres on, probably fitting mudflaps and wind deflectors if you can get them and that is it.  Apart from a meter, radio and top light of course. :)

I look forward to chatting cars with you guys.

nice choice of car, you will be pleased with your purchase

You won't be disappointed - I too ordered without sitting in one or driving one.

I'm assuming you're buying from Ingrams - looks like it in the photo. Really nice folks, and just a mile and a half from where I live. I reckon 80% of the Superbs you see in Ayrshire are private hire cars! (mine isn't)

Enjoy your car. The Superb is fabulous and the twin door arrangement very, very user friendly.

I love my superb, bought it without thinking! Twindoor is great for both worlds. :)

I do love it, and the drive back to the Borders was very relaxing.  61.5 mpg and that was going with the flow so deeply impressed.

Can't get the saloon boot bit to open, I assume it is the handle/button to the right?  I also seem to have the manual for the gen 1 Superb!! :(

To open as a hatchback,

operate handle/button on right, keep holding until the brake lights flash. Then use the central lever/handle and the whole tailgate opens.

To open as saloon,

operate central handle/button.
