Xenons delivered what next?

Recommended Posts

These have been delivered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270591725356#ht_4205wt_1018 and will be fitting soon, looking for velcro with self adhesive backing to fix ballast etc inside light housing.

Will the lights work if I connect before getting VCDS coding sorted?

"Boneman" same kit at London colour were cheaper and no they will not work.

I have a set for mine which I have not bothered with as I thought I could fit them and run them with a lamp fault on the dash until I could find someone with vcds.

You need vcds changes before switching them on AFAIK.

I went and upgraded my H7 lamps in the end :(

Why would you need them "coding" as you put it ? they are a after market unit and as they have ballasts, as long as the units as can-bus compatible they will work.

Radiotwo

PS I have just read the listing and those you have got are not for can-bus systems !

I had a read through various threads eg.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/251003-headlight-removal-hid-fitting/page-1

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/264447-hid-aftermaket-kit-help-for-definitive-how-to/page-1?hl=+hid

It seems the non canbus will be fine with VCDS coding.

The canbus type with cancellers may well work ok but I don't want high value capacitors anywhere near my electronics and I guess you won't find them on an OEM xenon installations either.

They will work without coding but it will be hit and miss, Sometimes they will fire and sometimes they won't. Also when you operate main beam they might go off (dipped beam).

Really need them coding - byte 14, bit 4 from a 0 to a 1 and all will operate fine.
