winter wheels on

Featured Replies

Well decided to take the plunge and get some winter wheels and tyres on 17inch with 225x50x17 conti winters

Last year got stuck a few times and had some "arse like a rabbits nose times",,,I leave for work at 3 or 3.30 am and not many cars have been out so its pretty bad on the roads, hope having a manual helps this year along with the winter tyres not getting into a debate about dsg its just not for me decided on the Dotz wheels mainly because I like the look and easy to clean there are cheaper ones about but you only live once and you never know whats round the corner,

Who/where did you get them from and what size are they? 17 x XJ, ET X

Also, are they a direct swap or did you need a fitting kit?

You need to find alloy wheels of 7.5J x 17 & ET ~50 and you should be OK.

If you can't find a Octavia III listed then use a VW Golf Mk 6 as the car, MY 10-12 & 225/45 17 as the tyre size.

You should have either 225/45/17 or 205/50/17 tires. 225/50/17 are taller and you can tell from the pics. Their diameter is larger than the 225/45/17.

They are 7.5 x 17 with et50 no fitting kit needed came with nuts as well although they are exactly the same as mine even my locking nut fitted.

I got them from Tyre men at Hull,

You're a brave man with that wheel choice, the salt will eat in to the polished bits unless you get them sealed well.

Ive used some armour all to seal the wheels and the salt will still get to the wheels probally next year but will wait until they look a bit scruffy then have then refurbed

They look nice and remind me of Audi Rotors. They're also the right size for the "current" Scout and in my opinion look nicer than the Proteus wheels even if aftermarket.

Given my experience of diamond cut wheels I think the "distressed" look is inevitable long term.
