Which Towbar for Yeti?

Featured Replies

I've looked at scads of different  detachable hitches, prices vary from around £100 to £250+. Anyone got any preferences or experiences of the different makes avaliable? The cheapest seem to be from either Poland or Czech Rep, all claiming to have the necessary EU approval ratings. What's the reason for the big price difference, does anyone know? Most include a single electrics kit & P&P in the prices quoted, so no hidden extras to be discovered at the checkout, as happens with so many other things in this life!

Grateful for your feedback & info.

Cheers.

I don't do cheapest as it usually isn't. I do the best at the best price.

I paid £540 for a westfalia fully fitted.

Others favour a Witter.

Westfalia detachable is the best, I have used mine a lot with caravans, car transporter trailer and such things, fit and finish is really good, as is the ease of use.

I have a Witter detachable on mine ... though it has never been detached ... completed something in the order of 30 caravanning trips (many thousands of miles) without issue.

I have used detachable Westfalia swan neck on my 04 BMW and found it a very well engineered hitch towing various trailers over thousands of miles.

The only criticism with Westfalia, which is the Skoda Yeti approved accessory, is that you cannot get a flange detachable, but Witter do make a very good one, should you need jaws, bike rack, drop plate or stabiliser.

I had my Witter fitted by Skoda dealer including full 13 pin electrics which is fully warranted thereby avoiding some of the pitfalls of the electrics fitted by various misinformed monkeys, as well documented on this site.

The Witter was £240 from eBay with Skoda electrics total £490.

Witter or westfalia bars, but westfalia electrics are the only ones that skoda will warrant. Oh and a dealer / fitter that actually has a clue might be a start.
