Face Lift Rear Twin Fog Lights

Featured Replies

As per the title, is it possible to activate the rear LHS fog light using VCDS. I live over in Germany as a UK employee therefore I must have twin fog lights. I have just been informed that the new Superb only comes with the RHS working and he has quoted me £295 to get the LHS working. I am due to pick up my new Superb in the first week of Feb

I have just checked my fl Superb. You are right. Only the offside rear fog light is activated. I cannot see any option on maxidot for switching on the ns fog light.

Sorry, but as for vcds, I simply do not know.

All the best.

I retrofitted the LED rear lights to my Superb PFL Combi.

I had to fit a AN BCM module to get them to work - then recode byte 18 to 05 This is the "type" of car, 1Z is Golf, AD is Touran, 3M is Scirocco etc. This I had to recode manually to "05" (no specific car listed) and the rear light clusters worked without a problem. Including double rear fog lights.

Maybe give it a go?

on the pre face lift model both rear fog lights work, is this a cost cutting measure

No, as no costs are saved.

All new model Skoda's now only come with one rear fog activated.

Take a look in the Octavia MkIII forum as these guys suffered exactly the same issue as you.

They managed to find a dealer that was able to swap the function from one side to the other but I don't think they were able to turn both on together.

Silver1011 thanks for the pointer, I now have the contact details for a dealer that may be able to help me once I pick up my Superb in Feb. My friend has got both working on his Octavia MkIII VRS but it meant butchering the wiring loom on a brand new car not good, I want to avoid doing this.

Just had mine done for BFG after much pain. Essentially:

- I tried four dealers in Germany who said they did not have codes to switch the fog light from R to L. The last one offered to make me a cable. I had a quick look inside the light fitting to see if I could do it myself but it's not easy - the rear LED light clusters are sealed units and it is not obvious which wire is which.

- I took it back to the garage to do so as not to tamper with the electrics. After two hours they said they had failed to make it work as the Uk model does not actually have the LEDs or the control unit for the rear fog built into the right hand cluster. I had to buy a continental cluster, which at total cost with labour was €270. The garage have been really good and given me a diagram showing what they have done and how to reconnect for RHS rear fog, to save me taking it back in when I return to uk. They also only charged me for one hour's labour even though the car has been in for a total of four hours whilst they work out how to do it.

- Light test next Tue. Once I know the bixenons are ok I'll be sending a letter back to the dealer for selling me a car that was not ready to go for BFG as they said. But more importantly it might help them warn off future customers. The money involved is not huge but the faff was a real in the backside; let me know if you want me to scan the diagram of what the dealer did and send to you (v simple - turns out the yellow wire is the rear fog feed). Now to get a uk LHS rear light cluster on e-bay.....

please pm me the scan of the diagram

I retrofitted the LED rear lights to my Superb PFL Combi.

Found pictures of it in another thread. Nice result.

Guys, have a look at this thread under Octy 3 vRS twin rear fogs.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/?p=3567267

If you can find anyone with a VCDS system able to try this on your superb, the cars systems should be very similar & run same software. Hopefully it should be as easy to do on a Superb as it is on the Octy 3.

I'll need this done to my Octy 3 in April/ May, so if you RabMurry121 do find someone with VCDS able to do this in either the Uk or Germany, let me know please.

RabMurray, for some reason can't open a pm. Diagram is v simple - disconnect yellow wire from RHS and feed around to yellow wire on back of LHS cluster (disconnecting that one from the wire that comes out of the loom on LHS).

Lights test passed, no problems with bi-xenons on travel mode. Good luck!

This seems a bit (lot?) like cost saving? Surely it is not beyond the wit of man (or Skoda) to link the foglight operation to the 'Travel' mode on Maxidot? Indeed I'm surprised it's even allowable to sell a car in Europe which doesn't comply with all EU requirements (which is presumably why there's the 'travel' option to cancel to 'right hand drive' dipping function on the Xenons?).

One for Skoda UK to ponder, methinks!

Hi Guys,

What was the final out come, were were able to get both rear fogs on via the VCDs or did a new NS cluster have to be purchased ?

Let us know
