Caliper options mk1 octavia vrs

Featured Replies

Had a look at my rear brakes today due them sticking on, cleaned and relubricated the sliders, handbrake cables nice and free, pads and shims all good, however i was unable to wind the calipers back, the ns was solid and managed to just turn the os half a turn! So seems the calipers are siezed unless the flexis have calapsed but they look quite new.

So, are there any other cheaper caliper options other than having to fit the standard mint green calipers?

Ie. Any of other vags fit?

Disc are vented

Thanks in advance

There are some rebuild kits available. Did you use a caliper wind back tool or did you try it with some pliers ? They can be very tight to move but will free off once moving.

You can buy both rear calipers New for £150 in green.

seen replacement 'apparently oe quality' ones for 55ish on ebay.

By the sounds of it if the piston is having issues retracting, you need to take the caliper off, take out the piston, clean up any corrosion on the piston body, then relube and fit assuming all seals are ok.

If you dont fancy doing that, buying a replacement would be an easier (if not more expensive) way forward
