Would you do the Wood?

Featured Replies

Has anybody specced and received the 'Wood' decor with a black interior?  I like it (despite its fake provenence) when paired with the ivory interior, but unsure with the Onyx.  I kinda got used to having wood veneer in our Granadas and current Scorpio, but there isn't as much showing in the O3.  Anybody got images or sightings?

I've got it with an ivory interior, and to be honest I wouldn't have gone for it if the silver didn't clash so much. Even with the ivory interior it's a bit dark and dull looking, with black I don't think it would look good at all.

I should mention that I'm a big fan of wood veneer in an interior too. but only when it's done properly.

Personally no, it's not a jag, Rolls, Bentley or range rover

Saw an Elegance hatch with black leather and wood at Simpson's in Preston and didn't like it TBH.

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

Is it wood or brown plastic?

I think you need a much more pretentious car to really work the wood, so no, personally I wouldn't. :)

Looked like wood effect plastic to me

Definitely plastic.

Tis a bit naff in my opinion. You have a great, honest car that is just good at what it does without gimmicks. The addition of plastic wood smacks of desperation to present an upmarket image even though it manages to do perfectly well without it.  In my opinion, it's hideous and just doesn't belong there.  But hey, the world is beautiful because we are all different... it's your car, you have whatever you want and enjoy it

Agreed, wood doesn't belong in any car, not once made in the 21st century anyway.

Wood doesnt belong in any car? Yikes. Sorry, but a Rolls would not look right without it. Nor a Bentley. Also, get the right shade of wood effect, and the Jags look fantastic.

Nah, it just looks naff, unless you've got a chest wig and a big medallion.....

We shall have to agree to disagree then. I myself cannot imagine a Jag/ RR/ Bentley without wood effect

Thanks everybody for your input.  My wife concurs.  So we'll skip it and save £200.  It is fake wood - I knew that - and, I think, looks not so very bad with the lighter upholstery.  I don't, however, agree regarding wood in cars in general.  Many years ago, my father owned a Vanden Plas Princess with proper walnut dash, door trims, picnic tables et al.  Plus deep pile carpets and pale grey/blue leather (no 'leatherette' then).  As an environment, it was so much better than the ubiquitous and anonymous black synthetics of most common modern cars.  Such special trimmings are, sadly, beyond my own wallet strings.  But I wouldn't go back to the wooden frames of Shooting Brakes - like the Morris 1000 estate e.g..  Too much varnish maintenance.

I've got the wood trim with the beige (ivory) interior and think it looks great ! Everyone who has seen it reckons it makes for a classy interior. I've had a number of cars with interior wood treatments (BMW's , Mercedes & Fords) but believe Skoda's method in being restrained in it's use within the cabin has worked beautifully, but hey, as someone pointed out, each to their own, but I don't think it would work as well with the dark interior.
