Strange request - Need to find a car forum

Featured Replies

I need to find a car forum which is not make specific, to potentially migrate a group of people from another forum (not from here, I'm not going anywhere).

Pistonheads is too big and established. Anyone know of any that are smaller, but still have a reasonable amount of traffic to keep interest?

The current forum was born out of a TT forum (not that I owned a TT), I'd happily bring them over here, but I think it's a bit to Skodery for non Skoda owners.

I'm still quite happy here despite not being a Skoda owner at the moment.  I'm on a couple of other forums, mainly for the Rallye but this is still a place that I can come back to for a balanced view on most things automotive.  I agree that there are a few people who are blinkered by all that is Czech but there are plenty of others who just love cars and appreciate a bit of a chat about them in general.

There's a bit of a hoohaa about DPFs right now and some folks get their knickers in a twist over certain legalities from time to time, but mentally filter the posts and you can have a pleasant wander through the world of cars without too much angst.

On another note, this popped up on a thread on a Rallye forum,

Gotta love VBH.

You don't need to be a skod owner to be a member here on briskoda, there's plenty of relevent info here for tt owners.

There is a real mix of cars owned by the forum now (including at least 2 Skodas), but it's an option I will be putting to everyone as this is a nice busy, well managed forum. Nice to know they will be welcomed.

I've not owned a Skoda since 2009 but this is the only car forum I use. As above its balanced and most people are willing to help you out with answers to questions even of not Skoda related!

I'm not sure why, if you didn't own a skoda, you'd spend any time on here when there are forums like pistonheads (which has active manufacturer specific stuff) and model specific forums which will offer a wealth of information... Much mote than a skoda forum?

I don't know- a quick scan through the user's avatars show many here don't currently own a Skud.

For me it was because the Cordy is so close to a Fabia and this site was a lot more usable than SCN (though I'm not too sure whether the hatred is necessary). PH is quite often a bit too "what?! You have FWD and <500BHP! GTFO" for my liking though there are some really good threads on random cars.

The Briskoda demographic overall seems a bit more mature/balanced then other car forums, and the project threads make for very entertaining reading (as do PH's).

Pistonheads is also huge. I have been kicking around there since 2006, but rarely go on these days.

Briskoda is the right sort of size and there is always a good amount of posts. Also it's a really well run site where people know each other either having met or just after spening time on line. But I do think it will be strange for someone who hasn't owned and is unlikely to own a Skoda, to become a member and fully join in.

For those who have been around for some time and then change cars it make perfect sense to stay as part of the community, it's not all about the cars.

I have put this as an option though, plus another forum I frequent. Thanks for the thoughts thumbup.gif

Thanks fatwomble; I drive a Skoda, but I'll happily talk other stuff with most people.
