Top of range Superb vs crappy little Citroen

Featured Replies

I have a two year old top of the range Superb, and a four year old bottom of the range C3. There should be no comparison. But unless I am missing something, only the Citroen will show me the date. And only the Citroen will allow me to listen to Radio 4 (198 mhz) in France? (Since I live in France this is quite important). And only the Citroen will force me (as opposed to gently warning me) to keep to a predetermined speed limit.

Can anyone please tell me if there is a solution to any of these problems, especially the radio question?

No way to display the date I don't think.

To get to LW (BBC Radio 4 can be found at 198 khz) switch to AM, then use the scan button to move down the frequencies until it goes below the medium wave band, it will then move into LW frequencies. When you get to 198 khz use a spare preset to store it (press and hold) - and there you are.

To be quite honest having the car forcibly preventing me from exceeding a certain speed would be infuriating. A gentle reminder would be much preferred.

Finally, the Skoda does everything else better, such as living beyond 5 years old.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm afraid it hasn't helped. I've done as you suggested, but as soon as I scan down to the bottom end of the displayed AM band range (about 530) it takes me straight back to the top end - about 1600. Am I doing something wrong?

Do you have the Columbus system?

If so then perhaps you are right, LW frequencies not possible, see page 12, FM and AM only...

I've been through all four possible stereo's fitted to the Superb and they all appear to be either FM and AM or FM, AM & DAB.

No mention of MW or LW...

The very basic radio (Swing) operates as I suggested above, by scrolling down through all of the AM frequencies allows you to access LW. But saying this this 'feature' isn't mentioned in the manual so I assumed it was the same on all VAG systems. See here where it is referenced also...

Bugger!

AM == MW.

Certainly on the older systems, you did just scan below on AM. I take it pressing the AM to cycle through the bands to LW doesn't work either?

Have you tried AM 603 frequency "There is a little known medium wave/AM frequency - 603 - on which the Beeb broadcast Radio 4's long wave service, including the cricket.

It becomes the World Service at dead of night."

My mate has just tried and got it in Normandy but may not work further down.

Thanks for trying for me, but I cannot get to LW and AM 603 doesn't get anything.

Take the radio out of the Citroen and stick it in the Superb. Job done!
