Wiper Blades

What brands do people recommend ?

I need some new ones. Probably go for the Bosch aero.

I normally use the £5 Ebay Aero blades. They normally last a good 12 month then I have to replace them. Decided to go with the Bosch Aero this time also.

Bosch aero retro upgrade from ECP work out at about £16 posted for both if you use the Brisky discount.

Bosch aero twin for me :)

I've tried Bosch AeroTwins and Super Plus but find traditional style Valeo Silencio's clear the screen the best and seem to last the longest.

I find the retrofit Aero Blades hit the A pillar on my car too, unless shorter blades than standard are fitted. that could just be an issue with my car though.

Now you mention it I think my passenger side one does or it lifts off the screen slightly, can't remember now.

Just ordered a Valeo Silencio's wiper set from Eurocarparts and including the discount came out at £14 using 'CHILL30'

Hahahaha, I must be going senile, the Bosch Aero Twins arrived today, be buggered if I can work out how to fit the little blighters!!!!

I think stiffer wiper arm springs are required for the Aero-type-retrofit ones, at least in my experience.

On the last set of Bosch blades I tried, the clip for fitting them had to be reversed as they were set up for LHD. Can't remember if this was for both the Aero ones and the Super Plus, or one or the other.

I actually have a fairly fresh set of Bosch Aerotwins here that were used about two or three times before I got sick of the clunking on the A-pillar and missed bits on the screen. If anyone wants them, they're free (well postage might be an issue, unless you're local) to a good home. Just bob me a message. I've really sold them well here, haven't I?!

Bloody hell, only at Chesterfield, if I'd known....

Take it they are 21" and 19"?

Mind you, if you still have them, I'll give you some beer tokens for them; if I was cheeky and popped up (depending where you are in The Field Of Sheff) would you stick them on SWMBOs Fabia?

Sure.

great. I'm glad they won't be going to waste

This may be a silly question, but what about the £5 Tesco flat blades, any good?

I haven't tried the Tesco ones, but I got some cheapies from wiperblades.co.uk that also hit my A pillar (I'm really starting to think this must just be my car!). Although they cleared the screen well, they were/are a bit noisy.

got the bosch super+ with the spoilers and they also hit my a-pillar too rather annoying

I had that with my Fabia, just pulled the arms off the splines and fitted a notch down.

Not just your car, happened to mine too so just cut a bit off the plastic end to stop it tapping.

I'm glad it's not just mine then. Thanks!  I was starting to think my wiper arms were slipping, or worse.

I'm more than happy with the Valeo blades I have fitted now though. they seem to clear the screen better than the Aerotwins did and require cleaning less too. I was wiping the Bosch ones clean after every gritty road journey over 30ish miles. I don't think my windscreen is in the best of nick though, which may contribute to this.

Good to know about the hitting the pillar, will try some cheap eBay flats first and see how they are. Cheers.

If it helps, these are the ones I have on my car at the moment. Surprisingly, it's cheaper to order the 21inch and 19inch ones separately rather than ordering them as a prepared kit. I think I used a voucher code of some description too, which saved me about a fiver.
