Is this another example of dreaded arb problem?

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just taken my 02 Octy vRS to Protyre for two new rear boots and tracking check (btw, 2 x Kumho 205/50ZR17 all in for

Is it the bushes for the anti-roll bar or those in the short ARB link bars?

Not really sure - as I said, I'm mechanically unsound......

However, the dealer has written down that it was the "front lower (rear) wishbone bushes".

What I know for sure is that Protyre demonstrated the problem by moving car ahead with right lock on and then braking. Whole wheel appeared to "jump" about 0.5cm. Could it be the lower suspension arm joint?

Dealer presently has car and is investigating - probably using a calculator.

Cheers

Forgot to mention. Protyre found this problem when setting up to do the tracking. Obviously didn't do it as they found this problem with the front suspension/steering. My vehicle only has 26k on the clock so seems very low mileage for such a fault.

Not very happy with Skoda at moment as I bought a Fabia Classic for the missus at the same time as the Octy. Well guess what? At 24.5k on the clock (and again just out of warranty) they are telling me that the front discs need replacing. Also that the radio unit needs replacing as the left channel has died (although it can be "restarted" by tapping the unit!

Think I will be going back to Vauxhall after this. Shame as I really did love the Octy.

Are they advising to have the discs changed due to wear or corrosion? 24k miles is a bit low I would have thought unless your SWMBO drives with the brakes on!!! :D

i have felt this at a low speed turn a few days back.i put it down to uneven road surface,i best mention it to the garage tomorow,in for MOT and an oil change.i best get them to check this before i waste my money on a failed MOT :o

Thanks to all those who posted a reply to my thread. Sorry to those I didn't reply to, but my PC went kaput!

An update on both cars:

The Octavia - Skoda dealer said that movement on the lower suspension arm was "normal for this model of car sir!" I thought "brushoff" and went back to Protyre, who arranged an inspection by an independent garage at no cost to me - Big pat on the back for Protyre.

Lo and behold, the independent garage confirmed what the Skoda Dealer had told me and that the car was perfectly safe and not an MOT failure!!!!

The Fabia:

Took it to Protyre for brake check. Sadly, it did need both new discs and brake pads. The chap at Protyre seemed to think that Skoda discs are of low quality as shouldn't wear out at 24.5K - or maybe the pads are *^%

I know this isnt very helpful but be thankful the disc's lasted that long, my SWMBO's peugeot 106 gets through disc's every 18-20K and exhausts back box's between 15 and 20k !!
