Yeti's are Ace..

Featured Replies

Some great praise indeed James, I've only had mine for nearly a year and a half and at no point have I even thought about what the successor would be. In this time I still find myself smiling every time I drive it.

The only ugly thing about my Yeti is the driver

That would be me

My wife's just given birth to our first child so I'm about to find out just how spacious & flexible this thing really is :)

Congratulations BobbyG79

I'd actually considered buying a dog guard so that I could stack luggage right up to the ceiling without fear of any making it's way into the cabin.  quote]

I did and it works a treat, highly recommended!

PS many congrats to you both.

Lilly as the wife calls her is a top motor have never driven a car that can be thrashed down a B road, munched miles ont motorway and as I have found out over the last couple of weekends is very competent off road on her winter boots. It amazes me how well it performs coming from an octy  VRS,only thing that lets her down for us is the lack of any lumbar support in the seats  toyed with swapping it for a FL but would lose too much money.

I'm on my second Yeti and it is the first time I've chosen to spend my own money on a repeat purchase-It is all those things others have set out and it is enjoyable to drive-after years in which I'd come to think of driving as a chore.

Driving a chore?

Yup, it certainly was until I got my Yeti.

Now I sit back, chill and enjoy the drive, unless I'm in the mood for a bit of "making progress" ;)

I've said it before, the Yeti is exactly what I need and probably will be for years to come.

looks like yeti has many second time buyers which is reassuring.

I'm on my second as well.

Gone from a 110 SE 4x4 to a 140 SE DSG 4x4

Maybe the next will be a 170?

wonder if you feel any difference in pick up...

Oh yes!

The 110 was a manual and it performed well but was a bit slow from a standing start due to a low first gear and having to change gear manually.

It was good for overtakes from 60/70 too.

The 140, has more guts from a standstill, and being DSG, just digs in and keeps going with no hesitation changing gear.

At motorway speed, overtakes are a breeze.

In comparison, the wife's octy vRS is a 170 diesel DSG and that's just in a different league :giggle:

The Yeti is a great vehicle. I really enjoyed the 41k miles in mine in just over 2 1/2 years. It was great on road, off road and on track as BossFox says.

Would I buy another? Not sure. Probably not new, and not a second hand DSG or a manual as I only drive autos.

It was a great all rounder, fantastic in town for city driving. Not too bad as a mile cruncher either. You could spend many hours in a day in the driving seat.

I'm currently really enjoying my lifted Freelander 1, which is pretty much the same footprint as the Yeti, but much taller. I don't race about the place, so the fuel economy or the 110bhp engine doesn't bother me. The seats are even more comfortable, and it is a relaxed drive. It's even better off road, the boot is a little bigger and there is loads you can do to it to modify them if you want to.

I also had the 530d e39 and a 523i e39, both tourings. They were great cars and the Yeti handles almost as well, and sometimes better. The e39 chassis was brilliant and it was 50/50 weight distribution. (Anyone remember the TG trip crossing the river with the 5 series, the Volvo and the scooby?)

The e39 felt so balanced. The Yeti feels quite heavy at the front. The Frerlander doesn't feel quite so front heavy, it just feels heavy- it's around 150kg more than the Yeti.

The ride is much, much better in the Freelander than the Yeti, even though mine is lifted and has a wider track than normal. That is probably the biggest thing my wife likes, which makes it much more relaxing on long journeys.

The Yeti is a great car, but to get a fully loaded one now is too much. I don't do basic ones any more for my mobile office! I spend too much time in it.

I was looking at a L&K DSG 4x4 with a few options. I'll save myself a not so small fortune by not buying one.

Once again our Yeti has done us proud today, 6 hours driving, fully loaded, family, dog and roof box filled with festive goodies we travelled to a holiday cottage in Blair Atholl, 42.3 mpg on the maxi dot too however as we had such a good run on the motorway with no traffic we decided to take the scenic route up towards Lochearn head and Killin, then across towards Aberfeldy, Tummel Bridge and eventually Blair Atholl, we also found some snow on the way so couldn't resist a play and walk the dog too.

I do not have winter tyres but did have all four changed on Monday this time I got Dunlop SP01's same as the car arrived on, so I have had Bridgestones, Continentals (which were terrible) and now back to Dunlops.

Here is the Yeti in a few inches of snow at the top of a hill, no issues with loss of traction either
