Trip computer bleeping at 4 degrees/freezing

Featured Replies

There are two things I dislike about my vRS -

1. This bloody 'ping' - despite the length of time I've had the car my heart still jumps when it goes off - in a Fiesta the 'ice symbol' simply glows a different colour - no heart attack-inducing noise.

2. The position of the heated rear screen button - I can never find it - end up putting the ASR(?) thingy on / off (I can usually only find out if it's on or off by booting it away in slippery conditions as there doesn't seem a visual way to tell).

Odd - my ASR light flashes on the dash and I get a message on the Maxidot when I turn it off...  They wheelspin for fun anyway.

HRW light turns the button from yellow to orange and has a picture of a heating element on it.

ASR button has a picture of a skidding car.

Not being funny here, but how come you can't find it?  Do you not put it on before you set off?  Part of the startup process for me - heat on max, fan on 4 and screen selection, then HRW.  I do look what I'm doing though.

It isn't where I intuitively expect it to be - probably just me to be honest...

I expected it to be with the climate control buttons - not out on its own - but then I struggle to find the button for the hazards as well :D.

For the record, there's warning bleep at -5 degrees as well, when going from -6 to -5 or higher.  Took me a while to figure out why, but ice dries up and is much less slippery below - 5 than above.

My mk1 fabia also beeps when it gets below 4 degrees. Dont think your too modern haha :P

How can it make yoi jump lol. Does it nearly every night this time a year

Are some of you for real lol? Moaning about a safety feature that basically tells you 'grip isn't at it's best, take it easy" I personally think it is really useful feature.

Here, here, bet they jump when their kettle clicks off when it's boiled as well.

There's some nervous soles on this Fabia Forum, it's starting to sound like some sort of Self Help group.

Try cycling on black ice like I did yesterday and have some @rse overtake me on a blind bend . The beep noise sounded then !

Bet that was a series of beeps or was it expletives!!

It's not a 'safety feature', it's simply annoying. I know when it's cold and therefore that more care should be taken - I don't need a high-pitched ping to tell me.
