RS seats big problem

Featured Replies

RS in operation about 2 months.

Problem is the foam in the seats gives after time and the leather(ette) covers also give causing the bagging.

My MK2 vRS with leather is bagging badly on the drivers seat (when I say bad its not really that terrible but looks worse than the 10k miles the car has done would suggest) passenger side now showing signs too.

Raised my concerns at its first service, dealer raised it with SUK and its not a warrantable problem and is completely normal apparently. Getting rid of it anyway but suspect its down to cheap seat foam and leather coverings, given they are trying to save costs with the O3 disnt really expect that to be a great deal better.

Have bought an elegance with half leather alcantara so hope that holds up a little better

You need to tell the wife to take her Rampant Rabbit our of her back pocket before she sits down.

Sheesh.  Isn't a ride in your mk3 vRS exciting enough?

Is 'back pocket' a new euphemism for a ladies ahem ? :giggle:

This was noticed on photos of the press cars, alot of people avoided it because of this....

Link for review? thanks

Looks like something heavy has been left on the foam whist in storage at the factory causing the underlying foam to indent. The leather covered it up at first but has now loosened and followed he contour Try gentle heat with a hair dryer and massage the area.

Mmm not good.

Glad I went with my gut feeling and cancelled my leather option.

I would be seeking a refund personally on option and replacement.

Not wishing to sound like a complete ****, but I think the extra layout for what is essentially 20% more cow is a proper rip off! Leather seats should be just that... Leather. Front AND back.

The best reason to get VRS leather seats is to keep your bum warm in the winter. The stock seat are non-heated.

Perhaps the heating element adds to the sagging?

Never really seen the need for heated seats.Had them in my MX5 with leather and on frosty day with the roof down they were good but in a non convertible with cloth seats no need whatsoever,

But heated seats are optional with cloth, whereas with leather you have to take the heating option, and pay for it.

on my Mk2 FL, after only 300 miles the bolster on the drivers seat had a crease

mentioned it to the dealer, oh skoda don't replace leather covers that crease

@eddie

Can you upload photo from your car? thanks ;) VW have big problem with all seats and same situation is in audi ag...

The material in the non leather seats looks as bad and baggy too. The mklll vrs seats look really cheap quality although they are comfy

I had a similar problem with the leather in my Superb II Elegance, the quality is just not really fit for purpose but I guess you get what you pay for compared to the cost of leather options in an Audi which can be several thousand more, it's not surprising that Skoda are using the cheaper cows! I did try a Superb II L&K with the ventilated leather seats which seemed much softer to the touch, less of the plastic feeling, but expect that quality would be another wedge of cash on the option price if made available elsewhere in the range. Personally, after my experience with the Superb, I wouldn't chose the leather option unless it was ventilated due to over heating problems in the summer months. The Alcantara in the Elegance seems to be holding up, done 13k so far since June.

No problems with mine after 4k miles, still look as good as new. Quality wise there as good as my mkII.

is it real leather or leather faced vinyl?

Mostly plastic or 'leatherette' as Skoda like to call it. IMO the upholstery quality is the most noticeable penny pinching area of the interiors. The quality of the full leather Yeti elegance seats are also nasty compared to the proper grained leather stuff you find in the VW's and Audis - it doesn't breath well in the summer and is just generally low grade. Mine still look like new but I've cleaned and treated them three times a year since new.

vw leather is also crap

Only seats I've seen that were nice leather were in a TT with nappa leather

Agreed the leather in most VW's gets quite baggy after some use; a while back was looking at a few MK6 GTi's on line and noticed many with leather with only a few thou on the clock were already getting quite baggy on the seat base and bolsters, certainly worse than the vRS leather in my Mk2 looks right now.

I think a leather is a tad better in the mkll.

You'll see in my post there is a quote, i'm talking about the cloth seats. ;)
