  • Few more photos, as you can see not a massive difference.

  • It is but someone has to do it ????. Every time i walked to the car when it was parked up i just thought to myself that it ruins the whole aspect of a sporty looking car. Whether it because of the whe

  • Glad you are pleased with the experiment!! Enjoy the look and the ride. Bring on project No 2??

That does look good.

Hi,

I know its been a topic on here for lowering the new vRS.

Today i had mine done. I originally was going to go for the H&R springs however i decided to go for the Eibach. Lowering it 25mm on the front and 20mm rear.

Here is the before and after (apologise for low quality iPhone photos)

Personally i think it looks ace and made the car perfect.

The work was carried out by Awesome GTI in manchester.

Hope it helps others interested.

Thanks

Rob

At what cost and too what benefit. Visual ,practical or performance .

In other words justification related too expense?

Looks great ! Has it effected the handling in any way ?

£327 fitted. £160 for spring. £167 for fitting and alignment. In the black friday sale, around 20% off.

Was going to fit myself however thought id leave it to someone who deals with daily.

As for handling seems a little more age however maybe just a mental thing haha. Its a tiny bit more harder but rides them very well.

For me it was mainly looks, as in my opinion the standard look ruins the car.

Rob

I think your car looks awesome but prefer the factory lowered spec look.

Thanks.

Good on you for experimenting.

Not sure if it's my priority bag.

But perhaps I'm and old fart.

Quite interested to know what percentage difference this mod adds to insurance cost, never having done suspension mods on a car myself.

The 'improved looks' argument is definitely a thing of personal preference. Not sure I'd do that to mine.

Also, with the roads being full potholes, speed bumps, etc. I feel it makes the car a lot less usable. Do you get an increase in body 'shuttering'?

Having said that, candy white with black pack just looks stunning (shame about the wheels though).

The standard lowered i never saw an option?

There is not more shuddering with the car than there is standard, the rides exactly the same as it did before.

As for potholes i rarely go anywhere with pot holes and don't have any issues regarding. I wouldn't say iv lowered the car to the normal lowered car look more to how it is with a standard vw.

It is personal opinion, however as iv said before this thread wasn't to slate my car, more for those interested in the other thread about lowering.

As for insurance, i just had to pay the admin cost of £17.50 to declare it

No slating at all. It's your car, your choice.

I am surprised that the ride is exactly the same. If there is less 'travel' in the suspension, you would have thought it affects the ride quality and bumps are going straight through the body of the car.

I wish there were no potholes here...Yorkshire is full of them.

£327!! You should of popped down Jewsons (other building merchants are available) and got yourself a few bags of sand

Seriously though it looks really good and any negatives for me would out weigh the positive looks, if I didnt have ankle bitters i'd consider it myself. Well done

Robfab I think it looks the mutts nuts, this is the stance the car should have from the factory. Wheels look great also. Can you give me a link please to the springs as there has been some debate over the actual part number. I assume no probs fitting?

I will order and fit these myself. Do you know if the camber was adjusted at all? Thanks for posting.

Looks just right! The Eibach springs if anything will improve the ride they are not to be mixed up as a tacky mod you won't get a better product.

Was it a in/out day turnaround??

Ps can you get some more pics up, I.e at an 45 degree angle from front of car with wheels full lock and maybe a rear to front side shot please!!!!

Honestly so far iv done 100mile on them to get home, it shows the little bumps but big bumps is exactly same. Im very happy with the ride expected it to be a lot worse but people iv spoke to say that about eibach.

Haha yes not the cheapest thing but didn't think was too bad to be fair but cheers.

It is down to opinion with the springs but trying to give back to forum for people interested and was considering them.

Yes they were done in around 4 hours at awesome.

I have no idea regarding camber adjustment.

I shall try tomorrow in daylight for you. Ill get a few

What is difference in height and price between the h and r and eibachs? I admit I've had eibach pro spring kits on my fn2 civic type r and coopers s and they were great

H&R state 40mm but which i think would be way too much.

By the way these are the same A3 8V springs which eibach are selling as vRS ones. Also eibach told me skoda are testing the eibach springs to possibly approve them like they dod the mk2 fabia vrs.

Looks terrific that, should leave the factory like that.

Who do you insure with Rob? Seems a reasonable approach from the insurance company to only charge an admin fee.

If/when I get a vRS I'd certainly look to do this and coming from a history of Cup spec RenaultSport cars the ride will be Rolls Royce like even when lowered!

I am insured with admiral on multicar, 22, 4 NCB, 5years driving and wheels and lowered declared, £520 + £17.50 today for admin fee which i think is reasonable.

The car is classed as low risk with it been a new model so not much crash data out for them if you like.

Cheers Rob, I'll bare admiral in mind when I renew. With my previous motors I've always used specialist insurers when modding, although being able to obtain track day cover was always a consideration. Its refreshing to hear that some main stream insurers are becoming more mod friendly
