SatNav Data

Featured Replies

Is it possible to edit the SN Data on the HD and delete all the Europe crap just leaving the UK?, every time I start the SN I have to select UK which is annoying especially as I have no intention of leaving the UK, sure when I loaded the DVD for my Insignia I had the option of loading just the UK or UK\Ireland & Europe so it looks like the Dealer has loaded the whole lot.

Also is it possible to add POI's, I had a LOT of fishing venues in my Siggy SN and as the Columbus has a HD and SD slot I was hoping there would be an easy(ish) way to add them?

Regards

Craig

Mine comes up with where I am when I start the engine and select the SN. So I presume there must be something else. But what?

There is probably 8GB+ European Data on there that I just don't need, space that could be used for MP3's :)

For music I use my i-pod and MDI link. Maybe some one will come along for your original question though.

I have western Europe on mine and don't have that problem, it just starts up on my present location. Don't know what could be causing your problem though sorry

I would do a factory re-set from the nav menu. Sounds a bit like its got into a tizzy, although I have never heard of this issue before.

I don't believe it's possible to edit/delete mapping or navigation data from the hard disk and I certainly wouldn't recommend it anyway. You haven't mentioned what hardware/firmware/software levels you have but some recent firmware levels have been modified to change the 2 or 3 partitions on the hard drive to a more efficient ratio.

Also, I agree with the previous posters that the map should show your current location (as mine does) when you turn it on. Assuming the unit works normally once you have told it where you are then it must be a set-up issue rather than, say, an aerial problem. Please feel free to come back with more info as there are many people reading these forums who can help you.

The map data is stored on a different partition to the music, deleting the map data (which is not possible anyway) would not free up any space for music.

The map data is one single large database file of co-ordinates and other data, the whole of western Europe is just over 4GB in size.

You can add your own POI's as long as you have the latest maps and firmware for your unit. You need to use a piece of software such as p0inspector to create a  personalpoi.db3 file which you then import from an SD card. VW used to have their companion website that would do it all for you, but it was withdrawn.

Mine starts wherever I am. In Spain last week and it worked well, took a few minutes to establish itself as I drove off the very there & the same in Portsmouth. A factory reset might be the answer.

It (finding itself somewhere in Germany) is normal for units which undergone FW upgrade and are switched on for the first time after reflashing. Takes 10 to 30 minutes to find the correct location.
