Citigo Sport Key

Featured Replies

The plastic seems a bit hard, sharp, brittle and generally nasty. What do others think?

Doesn't feel like it'll last long at all.

I agree. The plastic is nowhere near as good as the normal vag flip key. I dropped my key the other day and it is the worse for wear. I can't my key lasting a year :(

Yes, it looks good but doesnt feel particularly robust.

Maybe a silicone cover is the answer

Plenty available on eBay

Ooh never thought of that, good idea.

Agree it's far more brittle quality compared to what my Octy flip key was.

any pics of the key?

It's just a cheap plastic cover stuck over a normal black key! I was disappointed when I got mine! :-( but it will keep the key underneath nice :-) and you can get replacement covers from Skoda is it starts to look bad!

woa!! I have a sport - no fancy key cover.....  :wonder:

Your not missing out really mate

To be honest, the standard key is not the same quality plastic as other VAG car keys. It too has a much cheaper feel to it.

My Skoda keys are identical to other VAG models, with the round logo simply swapping out depending on the marque.

The Sport key overlay is a simple shell overlay, snap-bonded together. Skoda states that the overlay cannot be replaced if you need to change the key battery - it is a one-use item as I understand and needs to be destroyed to remove it.

While it seems cheap and thin from looking at the edges, it appears to be reasonably robust and fairly scratch-resistant - having dropped onto tarmac several times and living in my pocket with other keys and coins, it is still nice and shiny 6 months into ownership.

£23 ?? thats a tank a petrol...

Colin, a Briskoda version of the sport key cover would be a big seller im sure ;)

I'd buy one. But I also love the look of the Citigo sport key but don't know about its quality.

23 Euro plus postage.  So possibly more.

Damo is right, Briskoda version needed. :)

Like I said earlier, it appears to be flimsy on first glance, but seems to be both pretty scratch-resistant and sturdy based on several accidental drop-tests (ahem) and daily pocket/coin interface scenarios :)

Well I'm on alibaba, found one possible supplier, min order 1000. It would make them priced here in our shop in the £3 to £5 region, but thats estimated before I stick a bespoke logo on...

Still looking.
