Featured Replies

Hi I have the 1.9d skoda pickup... I wanted to know do I I have a fuel pump in my tank aswell as on the engine.... thanks :)

yes there is a lift pump inside the tank which feeds the fuel to the diesel injection pump on the engine, the excess returns to the tank.

Thanks again tom... reason for asking and I dont know if u have ever come across this and thats running the truckon veg oil.... it has 63, 000 on the clock 1 owner and is pristine... ive seen kits and units to do so. Just wonderd if u have any Info?

Cheers again

The vw idi engines are pretty robust low stressed engines, they can survive a lot of abuse too... In theory a Diesel engine can run on any oil so long as it's filtered properly and you can get it hot enough, I've never tried it on one of those tbh, but you will probably need some sort of pre-heating chamber for the veg oil, possibly you could knock up something using an old oil cooler and use the coolant to pre heat the oil, I would have to put my thinking cap on tbh, but I would go for a 50/50 mix rather than pure veg or even figure out some way of having a seperate tank for veg oil so that the engine always starts and warms up on diesel fuel but then switches over. Also you would need to change the fuel filter quite frequently too.

Most guides seem to recommend switching back to diesel before switching off too so that you are not restarting from cold on the thicker veg oil left in the injectors and pump.

Did I read somewhere that one type of pump used in the Felicia isn't ok to use with veg oil because of the compound used for some of the o rings or gaskets?

if the fuel pump is a lucas which is on my 1.9d felly esate it will not run on veg but if its bosch it will be fine the lucas will run on biodiesel however hth.
