Hi All,

We came across this site recently accumulating  some interesting and useful information which saw us stick to the Skoda brand. We had been the proud owners of a Superb SE 4x4 until the end of November when a silly Mercedes owner performed a U-turn on a dual carriageway in our cars path. He definitely came of worse but our Skoda was classed a total loss. At 50mph we had no intrusion whatsoever even though it was a full frontal impact into the side of him. That was the bad news!

The good news, we took out Gap Insurance which left us with a handsome deposit for our new Elegance 170 DSG demonstrator with a host of extras and as this is our third Superb from the dealership we got a fantastic deal, looking forward to picking it up on Saturday. I have seen a few posts on here RE: Gap Insurance and what I will say was it was a bit of a nuisance getting it sorted but it was well worth it in the end, the fact the other driver was at fault and accepted full liability may have been the cause of getting sorted so quickly. The down side is that Skoda Gap Insurance is underwritten by a company called MAPFRE ABRAXXIS who pay Skoda £150 for selling it to you. I was advised in confidence by a salesman from  the dealership this was the case when I was getting messed around a bit and got Skoda involved.

Personally I will be obtaining gap insurance with my new purchase however I will be dealing directly with the insurance company as opposed to Skoda.

Here's to more happy motoring and avoidance with crazy drivers !!!!

Welcome  :hi:
