  • Cheers bud We'll I'll have the 17s if you sell em

  • Nooooooo! Anyway we haven't got any old shape ones left anymore. I'm on the scout for some old wheels though lol

  • If you look for the facelift headlights they do projectors but halogen ones, apparently the genuine xenon ones are a knightmare to get working properly if you didn't have them

I dont think 10/15 will even look at that

Id buy one set of 20's and try them on the front

If its too wide use the 20's on the back and buy 15's for the front

If 20's are good on the front go for 25's on the rear

Im running 15/20 on my 3series but my alloys werent as far in as that so id edge towards 20/25

Not really a spacer fan, so 10-15mm hubcentric is as far as I'd go, myself.

15's for the front now ;)

15's for the front now ;)

Not sure fronts are ok ish might do 10s if I can get some cheap

Those were £35 with bolts and I must say machined to perfection and excellent quality! I think their 10s are £25

You may struggle with 10's as the hub lip may be too large.

Little update on the bimmer

Glow plugs changed due to slow starting! Wasn't that battery changed now slightly better! Who needed £200 anyway

As for wiper blades at £40 from ECP well...... Apart from parts prices it's all going well

Runs like a dream and done some good long journeys!

Still only getting 30mpg though even after the egr thermostat change

i love mine, its a great engine!

dont think you will get mega mpg, especially for town use, but i can get get over 500 to a tank on a run when i drive through france on the motorway. I also did Dartford to dover to rotterdam to amsterdam back to calais on a tank at christmas.. (around 500 miles).

Yeah can't fault it on a run! Just eats the miles and give a decent return

But the problem is my wife just uses it for plodding around, only gets a good run on my days off when we do something, couldng even begin to think of something to change it for, not at the money we paid for it

Slushbox won't help the economy - would have to be a 530d manual for me :)

na auto all the way... its good enough in auto with sport and tiptronic override if required but for everday driving (queuing) then auto rules!

would love to try the 535d version of this car, very similar engines?

Same engine (3l 6cylinder)

With an extra turbo for more go

Fair enough if you're doing a lot of urban driving - you just pay for it in economy :)

i know...you are right but for where i live (south east just outside london) the convenience of auto far outweighs the loss of mpg

Probably not far from me! Wickford??

It was just a top car for the money, no choice on the gear box but having said that we have manual 530ds at work and they are horrible to drive

Are you checking or have you checked the coolant temp on the screen between dials on screen 7.0 I think from memory? EGR Cooler stat and main stat I changed just because I was there might as well do both. If I really and I mean REALLY tried I could get just over 50mpg.

coolant temp screen after changing stats and bleeding my old one.

89.9 mile drive inc 25 miles of motorway at end, I tried my hardest it was emotional! Normally It was 37-39mpg for short cold run town stuff and 44-46mpg for all warmer longer runs without any real care for mpg.

For the slow start thing, are you aware of the IBS issue? Also the battery cable recall?

Edited by FUBAR

My m47 320d is averaging between 33-36mpg at the minute

Better weather it was 37-40mpg

So 30mpg isnt out of the ordinary

I also have both new genuine thermostats fitted.

Aye the cold days now won't be helping anyone! :( roll on spring!

My mate has a 535d and its epic. I am thinking of selling the fabia to get a 320d .

Done the stats and checked the temp with OBD

All seems ok

What's the IBS issue??

Fabia vrs (mk1 diesel??) does feel quicker. Its the power delivery that makes it feel fast

In the real world probably same performance. What would you rather drive though.... I know what i would rather

Yes Jase, I have a fabia vrs O5 with 65k on it. I need a slightly bigger 2nd car and a mate works for bmw so thought I would take advantage of cheap parts.
