What's the IBS issue??

A common one that causes battery drain symptoms and sometimes a message on the idrive about excessive drain (IBS = Intelligent Battery System/Sensor, I think ((google 'E60 IBS'))). It's a weird one, car can sound like it's bearly turning over unplug the wire for it and leave it unplugged and starts normally. Also the battery cable in the book (on saloons anyway) had a recall (not in UK market like all BMW faults) where it's not passing the current from battery to engine properly with a weak point. (where cable leaves battery compartment and crossed under boot floor insulation forward of the spare wheel well and goes down through floor at a joint, that joint has an uprated part)

  • If you look for the facelift headlights they do projectors but halogen ones, apparently the genuine xenon ones are a knightmare to get working properly if you didn't have them
