Is this Octavia an L&K?

Featured Replies

Hi, first post...!

I've just put a deposit town on a 55 plate (2006) Octavia 1.9 TDI Estate - it's allegedly a Laurin + Klement. I say allegedly, as I've just realised that it doesn't have the L&K badge on the back. Also, I tried to find some info on the various options for the Octavia in 2006 and the sites that I looked at suggested that there wasn't a 1.9 TDI L&K - just a 2.0

Can anyone offer any thoughts or advice? Am waiting for the VIN from the dealer to check using that.

Cheers,

Si

Welcome to Briskoda. :) Do you have a link to the car?

Have you tried running the reg through a comparison site?  This may shed some light on it - it may have been debadged,

Yeah, but the problem with the reg is that it's currently on a personalised plate, which is mid-transfer to the past owner's new car. I'm waiting for the new logbook (and thus original reg) to be sent to the dealer so he can put the original plate on. I'm pretty sure it's all above board... just means I can't do that check.

Hi, just tried running the reg through another site. It IS coming up as an L&K. I wonder whether they didn't have the badge in early 2006? Where can I find a list of what features a 2006 Octavia estate should have under the different trims?

Thanks

Looks like it has just been de-badged thats all

The spec certainly points to it being an L&K.

Well it has leather, heated seats, maxidot and jumbo box so that looks right, also the top of the gear stick looks to be chrome, which I think is also correct.

Looks like it's sold.

I've had too many beers already. Congrats it looks like a nice motor.

Thanks for all the help. The Parkers link was useful too.

Yes, looks like a nice car. Parkers guide suggests it's slightly overpriced, but looking at other cars around at the mo it seemed okay to me. Oh well, done now! Might have to buy myself an L&K badge ;)

Price looks about right to me for a decent example like that with average mileage. The spec is definitely the L&K. Good luck with it.

Enjoy. :)

Hi looks nice the wheels are the  alloys usually seen on the Sport.I think the pre 07 came with 16 inch   07 on had 17 inch sputniks, think they had L&k badge on tailgate only not on the wings.

It's probably got sports suspension as an option as 17" alloys comes with the sport suspension package

Thanks all for the help and the comments. Yes, it looks like a nice car - drives well and seems in good condition. Looking forward to picking it up.

The wheels are definitely 17s, but the suspension doesn't look low on the pics, so not sure that it is the sport setup?

It's an L&K alright - we've got a March 06 L&K 2.0 TDi Octavia estate with virtually the same spec - though I think 17" alloys were standard - including a full spare. The Laurent & Klement badge on the back is still there on ours, but it's so cheesy (looks like a plastic decoration from a wedding cake) that I wouldn't be surprised if someone had removed it. Looks like yours has no sunroof, which may or may not be a Good Thing. The drain tubes on ours clogged a couple of months ago on and it cost  £180 to have it sorted out properly by our local (Canterbury) Skoda dealer - and a lot of time (still on-going) with a dehumidifier to dry out the waterlogged interior.

But it's an incredibly solid car and we're going to run it into the ground rather than change at vast expense.....

Thanks for the reply.

Did yours come with the sports suspension, or just the 17s?

Cheers

I had a one-off leak somewhere which mysteriously went away again and left me with soaked carpets. It's fairly easy to take the inside apart and get them out if you're methodically minded and used to cars. Stuck mine in the sun for the day along with the drenched foam padding and ran some paper around the bottom to dry and it's as good as new. and I know it's 100% dry everywhere.

Humidifier seems like a right ballache in terms of time to get it dry.
