Glow plug fault

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a engine management problem regarding my glow plugs on a Skoda Fabia VRS 06 plate.

The glow plugs where changed when the fault was diagnosed. 2 days later however the fault came up again and i have checked the glow plus myself and all seem to be working. I am thinking it may be the sensor or something else to do with the glow plugs.

Any suggestions before i start messing with my car or spend a fortune on it?

Thanks

What is the actual fault you have?  How was it diagnosed?

There should be a relay which actually switches the glowplugs on and off according to a signal from the ECU, check the wire from the ECU, the relay itself and the connections to it.

+1 For the relay. This problem started for me just before Christmas, Glow plug light started flashing - then glow plug light flashing with engine management light on too, and then they both went out. All within a few days. Now the glow plug light does come on with ignition, but the car clearly isn't pre-heating as it takes ages turning over to kick in.

Nevermind, it's being traded in for my new Monte Tech :D

did you clear the fault codes from the ECU before rescanning?
